In my opinion, no. Monogamy is a human construction that works for some people. But I don't think it needs to continue being the default mode of romantic and sexual relationships. Then again, I'm non-monogamous, so maybe that's just me...

Bonding with one person for life might be achievable as long as you don't delude yourself into thinking that a single individual will fill every box you have emotionally, mentally, and physically.

Couples either have to compromise and leave some of the boxes forlornly empty, or make an amenable arrangement for both people to unpack other boxes as long as each comes home to the contents of the original package.
