Default Screening Rant?

I know everyone says screening is important, etc, but does screening let you know someone's mental state? I mean narcissistic gentlemen are charming and undetectable as well as sociopaths unless you attempt a assessment test, which I assume is the only way because that is what psychologist do to even come up with a diagnosis. Do you call their job and interview people they know? I highly doubt that. Then you think well that's what references are for, but what if they were perfectly fine with a few providers until something happens in his life that triggers a psychotic break? You wouldn't know if someone is having a psychotic break until it's to late. I mean do you do background checks with your screening process to see if he has a record of killing dogs and cats, and make your assessment accordingly? Even with that, if crimes happened when they were under age their files could be sealed. On the other hand there are people with mental health issues that necessarily do not have a record, so how would you know? How would know someone with schizophrenia stops taking their meds just to see you because the meds make them impotent, in result having a psychotic break? Just not sure how people would feel about getting a psych assessment test before seeing a provider lol.

Just a rant, but wouldn't mind input either. Would like to know if others thought about this as well.

You could always put "please, no crazy people allowed" on your showcase... The problem there, most crazy people don't know they are crazy.
The worst part, I'd have to excuse myself. We can't have that. You'll just have to find a kind of crazy you can tolerate.

isn't this the part where one of us guys would be told if you think or worry that much you shouldn't do it?

everything you bring up is unavoidable and not strictly a hobby hazard.

one thing is psychologist don't know shit and can't test for shit unless the knucklehead CHOOSES to go see them (or is forced to because of other scenarios). otherwise, they're as clueless as the rest of us. you realize when you go to the movies, the mall, out to eat, etc. you could run into just as crazy a person right? pretty sure the kids in Colorado or Virginia I think it was couldn't have screened for what happened to them or weren't expecting it. pretty sure the people in the restaraunts, grocery stores, and farmer markets couldn't have screened for the old turds who couldn't drive mowing them down and weren't expecting it. also pretty sure whereever that mall or movie theatre was where people got shot couldn't have screened, weren't expecting, and couldn't know if those dumb fucks weren't taking their meds or should have been on meds in the first place.

just sayin

edit:
might as well throw in an example eh?

Default Exactly

Exactly, and this post wasn't for me being paranoid about the hobby, it just bothers me when I read forums and articles about providers getting killed by psycho people and someone comments "did they screen?" ._.

The current trend of lists, the AA Friendly Providers list. And the Friendly AA Providers list brought this idea to mind.

Start a list of Psycho Friendly Providers, a list of Friendly Psycho Providers, and just avoid the fuck out of whoever is on either list?
IJS...

I'm not psycho-friendly, but if you're just manically depressed and need a lift, or compulsively obsessed with sex, Naughty Nurse Fancy can treat and street you.

I wonder how that would look in ISO?

Psychotic hobbyist seeking slightly less psychotic provider for some really CRAZY wild sex escapades. Must be able to go Bat Shit Crazy when told to get the fuck out!
Extra tip included if security is called.
Tip is forfeited if police are called.
PM me with references, boyfriends whose car you've keyed, ex husbands whose clothes you set fire to in the front yard. Those with proof of incarceration move to the top of the list. Answer quickly, I expect many offers and screening is mandatory.

Oh, and please be drama free...

Sure, you can never be 100% sure about anybody, in or out of the hobby. But it seems like most of these providers who get hurt, killed, arrested, etc haven't done the most basic screening and missed clear signs.
