Tequila Rose

Some say it's a chicks drink but I swear I could drink
a whole bottle of that stuff one shot at a time.

Silly fellow, I'm trying to take them OFF.

Of course, same principal could apply, but we Irish lassies know how to hold our liquor, and your bottle.

If you have a taste for bourbon, Woodford Reserve is a very smooth drink. If you can find it they have a new offering, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, if you like a drink that tastes like it has sawdust in it (I do).

Jamesons is always a great place to start drinking whiskey, so smooth and doesn't bite you when you're starting out.

I'd steer clear of the Scotch world until you build up a taste for milder whiskies. Single malts are where it's at. You could go with blended Scotches but if you want to do that you might as well drink Coors Light

Lot's of really good suggestions here.

For the scotch's and bourbon's, definitely go with the aged versions - the aging process makes them rustic and smooth over ice. An alternative to an aged scotch is Glenmorangie Port Cask, over ice, sippin' whiskey - it' gotta be Port Cask though.

One of my favorites is an " M & M " - Makers Mark Manhattan rocks - if you mix it properly on the vermouth/whiskey portion then top it with a slight bit of cherry juice and a drop of bitters, it's like candy! Makers/rocks ain't bad either.

Back to the vodka - Tito's/rocks wins for straight drinking but for fun drinking that taste good and drops the ladies inhibitions - White Chocolate Martini'!.

1.5 parts vodka, 1 part Godiva White Chocolate liquor, a dash of Bailey's and all pored into a shaker with crushed ice. Shake vigorously for about 45 seconds. Take a martini glass from your freezer and rim it 360 degrees on the inside rim with Hershey's chocolate syrup. The chocolate slides down the inside of the glass like fingers being born. Pore from the shaker and you got it!

Crown has some interesting blends going ... the Crown Black is really smooth, the Crown Reserve and Extra Rare are really good.

You're right about the effects of a chocolate martini on women. I've had a number of memorable evenings after mixing a few of those. A slightly less expensive but still lethal/tasty alternative is to use the Godiva regular chocolate liqueur instead of the white chocolate + Bailey's combo.

And nothing beats Tito's.

May I inquire as to why you want to switch to drinking liquor straight up or on the rocks?

I hope I don't get carded on this thread, .

You might want to try Ciroc or Crystal Head Vodka. A friend of mine snagged me a bottle, and let me tell you,...I thought I was drinking water. I looked like this smiley, "".

Also, If you are sitting with a lady at the bar, give her a shot of whipped cream vodka,...instant panty dropper (At least for me)!

These are all great suggestions. So far I have tried Jameson, Makers Mark, and Titos on the rocks. I had to water them down slightly to make them tolerable but they were all good. I am going to keep trying all these suggestions so keep them coming.
