A good CPA or tax preparer can save you big bucks. By good I mean one that knows what he can stretch and what not to.

Donations during the year always help. St Vincent DePaul and Goodwill give you receipts to fill out, no one knows what you actually donate nor the value. As a lady I'm sure you buy plenty new attire so donate the old once a month or every other month. Be amazed how the receipts add up and comes off the tax bill!

I firmly believe the IRS used a cheese grate as a rubber while bending us over. Yesterday I got my LA W-2 from last years refund, that really is a pisser getting taxed on the tax refund you get *^#*

If you move, you can write off the expenses you incur from that. Also the expenses of a new job. Plus you should have your new job take more out every paycheck, that way the anal hurts less come April 15th.

You only have to report it as income if you itemized and deducted your state taxes last year. They're a lot of crappy tax reg's, but that one's actually reasonable.

Default My new charity

I'm thinking of starting a charitable foundation: The GiantBourbon Fund for Deserving Young Women. Disbursing cash grants to deserving young women to help defray college expenses, etc., based on the sole discretion on the grant manager (me). Anyone care to make a contribution? I can't guarantee that it will be tax deductible, but I can guarantee that all contributions will be spent wisely!

I feel ya chella!!! The irs loves some Jammin ass. It's only gonna get worse. When it gets to the point that it's not rewarding to work the economy will collapse.

Exactly Jammin....I would work some lower paying job, but then that wont pay my student loans, rent, car notes--yes 2 of them since I pay for my sons at this time and while he is in college, oh and college expenses for him, insurance, and you know those things we have to have like food, electric, clothes, toothpaste, soap...

I get so pissed off when others lay up on their asses and get some credit for not working to improve themselves, or spit out dependents not knowing who the daddy is, driving new cars, fancy hair and nails, and the newest phones on the market.

Anyone who knows me here and in my personal life knows Im frugal and bust my ass for everything I have and I give the shirt off of my back for family.

Would a non-profit be a good idea? I have thought of doing something like that--something to help the homeless and women who are victims of abuse.

Any advice would be great, Im not educated in that area.

I got screwed big time in 2012. I made more in 2012 than 2011 and under paid my quarterly estimates as a result so I owed a couple of thousand + in the end. Since I also have to pay self-employment tax I ended up paying 35% in federal taxes, plus whatever state taxes were for a total of almost 38% in taxes.

I do ok for myself but I'm not making tons of money. When you have to work from January through most of May just to pay your tax burden so the government can misspend your money it really pisses you off. And until you start sending $3000, $4000, $5000 or more every 3 months to the IRS instead of having it taken out of your paycheck you really don't feel the same pain.

At least I planned better this year and overpaid my estimates so I don't owe this year.

I always love listening to my employees tell me about their $8000 or $9000 refunds. Single+no kids+decent job=NADA

As I was doing my Turbo Tax tonight, I noticed this:
