It's probably best to NOT post the name of provider friendly hotels. I presume most hotels know what's going on, but are willing to turn a blind eye if they can be low profile about it. Maybe some general hints or suggestions.

Posting the name of provider UNfriendly hotels is probably OK.

Agreed. You know what would be useful? A general discussion about what makes a hotel hobby friendly.

How about a large parking lot that is somewhat sheltered from a main street. It doesn't hurt if there is a sports bar or other eateries nearby so there is a plausible reason for my car to be in the vicinity. My 2 cents...

I'm thinking mostly of a hotel where the staff/management is not openly hostile to the hobby.

However, there are some details that are not as hard to figure out.

It's good if you don't have to walk by the front desk, or the entry area is sufficiently "broad" that you don't have to interact much. For instance, a "convention style" hotel with a lobby vs. one with a front door you have to buzz in and walk down a narrow hallway right past the desk.

One hotel (Austin Suites Hotel) required you to get a parking pass and list your name, license plate, and room number you were visiting. I should have bailed out once I saw that, but I was too concerned about being a gentleman.

Not having to worry about your car being there when you get back.

Being able to park somewhere that someone can't easily be watching which car you came from.

Here in Austin stay away from anything on I-35 between 183 and Braker.

In the Austin area, stay out of Williamson County. Some parts of north Austin are in Wilco. Guys will noshow you when they figure it out.

Known hobby unfriendly or unwise places:

Austin Suites Hotel (License plate/parking BS)
Howard Johnson I-35/183 (reports of harassing providers.)
Super 8 8125 N I-35 (Just north of I-35/183) Bad lobby

Maybe we should have a sticky thread for guys or girls to post hobby unfriendly or unwise hotel info.

Most 4 star hotels are great very busy less room to notice anyone in particular however locals prefer outdoor rooms for a more discrete visit depends on your clientele I've been around 5 yrs this is my experience

I always feel funny going to a big open balcony with a row of 20 rooms and a parking lot where dozens of people can see me knock on the door. I saw one provider several months later than my 1st visit and she was in the same room.
