Default Favorite Bourbon/Whisky

A girl gave me a bottle of Forty Creek Whisky for my birthday,
I had never heard of it but it is now my new fav, it has a very
rich oak barrel distilled flavor, just perfect with some coke.

It is named Forty Creek Barrel Select.

Anyone have a fav of their own.

I like Crown and Fireball. But fireball is really not ideal for mixing since it is cinnamon flavored.

If you like wheat bourbons like I do, it's hard to beat William Larue Weller. Blanton's Single Barrel is also good. Pappy Van Winkle's select older bourbons are quite good, too, but increasingly hard to find and expensive. Last time I saw the 23 year old, it was over $200. 15 year is still pretty reasonable, though.

Knob Creek. If it's not from Kentucky I generally don't like it.

Default Ah, a thread of interest!

When a great California Cab or Merlot is not available nor a perfect French blend........bourbon is the perfect spot on beverage.

For sipping, I too go with the super aged brands - gotta start with at least 10 years but preferably older.

As previously mentioned, the Rip Van Winkle is particularly rustic and goes over ice just fine.

Just recently there has been a couple of Texas bourbons that have arrived on the scene and they're not too bad - quiet different and worth trying. Here's one:
http://www.rebeccacreekdistillery.com/

I try to keep the liquor cabinet stocked with Makers Mark, Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, Jack Daniels, Wild Turkey, and an occasional wild off brand. But if I want more than a couple of drinks at night and want to be wide eyed and ready to go for a workout the next day, I stay with something lite, nothing over 40 proof. I'm a sissy like that.

What's I'd really prefer is the girlfriend who gives me bourbon!

People in Kentucky brought the skills to make their product from Ireland and Scotland.

As of 2 months ago when I found the first bottle of the new Double Oaked in a local store, it's become my favorite.
