TUESDAY ELECTION TAKEAWAY ????
The disaster of Obamacare has more potency than the government shutdown, which will have faded into history by election-day next year.
Other key notes (by Michael Barone except for #6):
1. The Obamacare rollout fiasco and Obama's lies hurt Democrats.
2. The government shutdown didn’t much hurt Republicans.
3. Millennials are souring on Democrats.
4. Hispanics and Asians didn't rush out for Democrats.
5. Private-sector unions can swing support for GOP candidates.
6. The Libertarian Party is corrupt and not suitable to have a national presence.

If nothing else it doesn't bother you to be wildly wrong.
Always plenty of room on the leading or trailing edges of the bell curve.

I thought the takeaway is when you forego a primary and run a social conservative, you are going to lose most of the time in Virginia. Repubs need to give up on their religious fanaticism if they are ever going to succeed outside the bible belt.
People want conservatives, especially now, just don't bring the bible baggage to the mainstream.

Kind of a ignorant statement. Conservatives are not necessarily religious despite what you may think. We do believe in the Constitution. God (if there is a God) will take care of his part and we can take care of our part. Plus, there is that bigoted phrase "religious fanaticism". Care to explain it. What is this fanaticism and how do you decided what it is?
You have conveniently overlooked the fact that the democrats ran lying push ads saying that the GOP was supporting gun control laws and Obamacare. Or that the Libertarian candidate was bought and paid for by the democratic party. Lets never forget the $15 million that the GOP did not give Cuccinelli. In fact the GOP pretty much punted this election and still almost won.

Read again, I said social conservative, and yes, they are all fricking religious kooks and nut jobs and Cuccinelli is a self-proclaimed social conservative.
Now, I agree conservatives are not necessarily religious, hence, the reason I said people want conservatives, just not the kook baggage.

Religion had little to do with Cuccinelli losing; in fact, Cuccinelli won the independent voters overwhelmingly...............a nd being a pro life candidate is a good thing;
Even the abortion poster child - Wendy Davis - is trying to position her self as being "pro life" (laughably).

McAuliffe got 62% of single women voters, Cucinelli got 29%. I don't expect that this will mean anything to you, but the dems have it figured out.

Sure it does, Asshat.
I hate to rain on your imaginary tea party parade but even a brief review of what actually happened last Tuesday pretty much establishes that you, as usual, are fucking delusional:
1. First Democratic mayor elected in New York City since 1989.
2. Cuccinelli, the perfect Tea Party darling, gets his ass handed to him in Virginia by a Clinton fixer with an F rating from the NRA who champions gay rights.
3. Crispy Crème, the pariah of the Tea Party because of his embrace of President Obama when the federal government was saving New Jersey last year and because he refuses to make stupid shit like abortion the centerpiece of his platform, wins again in New Jersey. With a majority of the Hispanic voters. Not done by a republican since 1997. Christie won because he refused to be bullied by the idiot tea partiers and therefore got independent and Democrats to vote for him.
But, you keep dreaming Whirlytard. And watch while the mainstream Republicans who make up 75% of your party and all independents run away from you and your fellow idiot tea partiers' extremist ideas.

Yes, they have it figured out. They lie, they demonize, and they take advantage of women like a date rapist. They scare those poor little "GIRLS" back on to the plantation. Someone brought up the movie "12 Years a Slave" but I read the book. Democrats back then did the same thing to their slaves. They purposely spread lies about bears, wolves, and big cats in the woods around the plantations to keep their slaves in their places.

1. First Democratic mayor elected in New York City since 1989. Yes, a communist, an activist and he is all yours. There is nothing that you can say that will get you out from under this guy's shit. Remember this when you try to give him a pass in the future.
2. Cuccinelli, the perfect Tea Party darling, gets his ass handed to him in Virginia by a Clinton fixer with an F rating from the NRA who champions gay rights. Cuccinelli, the Tea Party candidate (no one is perfect), nearly beat a well connected democratic bundler supported by a billionaire, Bill and Hillary, Obama, and a corrupt "libertarian" candidate in name only. Chuck Todd and other liberal journalists are marveling at how badly McCauliffe did with all his advantages.
Christie was opposed by a no name democratic candidate. The fix was in. This is the democratic elite trying to pick another presidential candidate.
But, you keep dreaming Whirlytard. And watch while the mainstream Republicans who make up 75% of your party and all independents run away from you and your fellow idiot tea partiers' extremist ideas.

The mainstream may make up 75% of the GOP (where did you get your numbers?) but nearly 100% of the Tea Party people get out and vote. A loud, active minority can beat a majority if the majority stays home like they did in Virginia.

That was my entire point, thanks. If they would simply stfu about all their religious beliefs, the dems would have nothing to talk about except socialist programs and raising taxes to pay for their stupidity, and they would lose.
Here is the line: "My religious beliefs are personal, and I won't do anything to change the existing laws for my own personal beliefs, period. Do you have any questions regarding creating jobs, cutting government spending and reducing fraud, reducing taxes, or eliminating Obamacare?"
They would win every time, at least until the economy was booming again. But they just can't stop preaching, madness.
