Temple (Central Texas) Meet and Greet
I have had several people express an interest in having a "local" meet and greet (M&G) that does not require people to drive as far as DFW or Austin or Houston.
Temple, Texas is about as centrally located as I can find, in a city large enough to hold our attention.
Temple is 75 miles from BCS (vice the 105 miles from BCS to Austin or to Houston)
Temple is 35 miles from Waco (vice the 75 miles to the Austin site)
Temple is 25 miles from Killeen (vice the 70 miles to the Austin site)
This poll is to identify the interest and/or concerns of the Killeen/Waco/BCS ECCIE gents and any local or travelling ladies in having a non-ECCIE sponsored, M&G in the Temple, Tx area.
Please AVOID mentioning publically ANY SPECIFIC locations.
The poll IS anonymous, no one can see who posted or what their answer was.
So please select the one answer that best expresses your position and feel free to comment below with any concerns, questions or encouragement you may have.
Respectfully,
OldSarge

If I am still in Texas when this happens, I will be there!
I MAY even have to plan a trip back to Texas to be there and to see my gents!
Kisses,
Merci

Always a pleasure to M&G with folks around the state.
Such as those in a "new" Southeast Conference" city not too long ago.
Takes effort and patience to get events going - and on-going, too!
When everybody respects the rules, the results are very worthwhile.

Please read my signature - invitations are neither "automatic" nor guaranteed.
I very much recommend that any and all who might like to be there contact me well in advance.
All gatherings usually have definite venue space limits, for example.
Travelers usually get a much better hotel rate booking well in advance.
Travelers who plan ahead usually have better fun opportunities, too.
ALL invitees must be vouched and verified well in advance.

Vouching process.... what to do if you want to attend

As with any social, security is a MAJOR concern. If there is enough interest in this Temple venue, our best security answer and meet and greet organizer in Texas is CK1942.
He is willing to support us in this venture.
At this point, if we are going to pull off a M&G before school starts back up, then we need to let CK know our interest outside of simply posting here. From CK, here is his guidance:

-- the provider knows you to be a legit hobbyist who respects her rules and that she believes will respect the event rules (link in my signature),
-- she is vouching for session(s) from within the past 90 days.
I ask the hobbyist to let me know he is seeking an invite and, preferably, let me know who is going to vouch for him so I can watch for the incoming vouch.
There is a separate and equal vouching process for the providers.
All vouches must be from established providers and established hobbyists.
Vouching usually closes at least 48 hours before an event.
|
So, gents, it is two step process. 1) Send CK a PM. TITLE: Temple Tx M&G. MESSAGE: I would like to be invited to the Temple Tx M&G. (Provider name) will be sending you a vouch for me.
2) Contact the provider and ask her to send CK a vouch for you.
Ladies, send CK a PM, TITLE: Temple Tx M&G, MESSAGE: I would like an invite to the Temple Tx M&G, Please let me know what else I need to do to get onto the list.
CK will contact you and tell you the vouching process for you.
Also, if a gent sends you a request for a vouch, please send CK a note as quickly as you can: TITLE: VOUCH FOR (Hobbyist name) for TEMPLE TX M&G.
In the body of the message state "I have seen the hobbyist in the last 90 days and I know him to be a legit hobbyist who respects my rules and I believe the he will respect the event rules as outlined in your signature block"
Simple enough? The reason I suggest you follow those Titles and Messages is that is makes the process so much easier on CK to organize the messages (as he gets messages on more than one board as well as emails, as well as runs events across the State of Texas).
I just sent my PM in.
Respectfully,
OldSarge

I think CK is looking at Mid August, before schools start back up.
If anyone wants to attend, mid august or not.... go ahead and see my post #10 on how to ask CK to be put on the Temple M&G list.
I recommend doing that as soon as possible. It takes time to get through the vouching process.
Respectfully,
OldSarge

Yes - before school starts is the target date.
Mid-week.
In a public place, possibly with some semi-private space if we can muster more than a couple handfuls of attendees. Otherwise, we'll be a small-ish group minding our own business and enjoying some happy hour drinks and appetizers.
For those in the hobby with a much higher-than-average security/risk aversion complex, there are zero guarantees that you will not run into a "civilian" acquaintance: neighbor, relative, sister-in-law, priest, minister, etc.
otoh, if everybody in the group respects the rules, there is no reason for your acquaintance to suspect that anything is amiss.
Unless you blurt/confess that the group is the local chapter of Sex Therapists Anonymous. (Ask me for a membership card!)
My suggested rationale if anyone asks, is that Joe or Jane told me I should check out the group because Joe or Jane thought it might be a fun group to meet.
All that said, the incoming requests are being processed, and we have a two- to three-week window prior to the event.
For those traveling into the area, my data search indicates more than 20 hotel properties, some in the 3 star range. I know some folks already planning to HH and then stay over. And maybe arrive the day before perhaps.

Wednesday, August 21, 2013 is the target date.
21 August, is the target date for the Temple Meet and Greet.
Get your invite requests and vouches into CK1942, "Father Peter" is the event planner extraordinaire, keeper of the list and protector of security.
See post #10 for examples for the PMs.

OldSarge
