Default whirlyheave is full of shit! FOX numbers PLUMMET!

Even though it is the only real conservative, GOP leaning, Tea Party blowing TV network it there, their fall from grace continues to plummet.

No wonder they HAD to being back Michael, er, Sarah Palin!

Heres another look at the numbers ...minus the stupid bulkshit spin added by our resident lunatics. Read both posts, then acceptmthenfactnthat If you snore while awake, then you're probably a mouth breather!

Fox News Ratings: Fanning The Flames Of Scandal Pays Off – Sort Of

Posted by Mark on May 29, 2013 at 4:57 pm.
If you’ve ever wondered what Fox News gets out of its frenzied pursuit of controversy, look no further than the Nielsen ratings for the month of May 2013.

For Fox News 2013 began by delivering the network its worst numbers in twelve years. They saw their top programs losing viewers with double digit percentages. Bill O’Reilly dropped 25%, and Sean Hannity declined 19%. This occurred while their competition, Ed Schultz and Rachel Maddow, increased their audiences by 23% and 32% respectively. It was dismal performance for Fox and omen of bad times to come.

A few months later, Fox has seen a noticeable bounce that will surely brighten their mood. The recovery can be entirely attributed to the bucket of scandals they have been serving up to their bloodthirsty, Obama-hating disciples. Nothing inspires wingnut viewer loyalty like the catastrophic misfortune of one’s enemies.

The numbers for May find Fox up 24% overall compared to the same period in 2012. While that may appear to be good news, there are hazards lurking in the ratings weeds. Take a look at this chart that contrasts Fox’s primetime total audience with their weak reach among the more highly valued 25-54 year old age group.

The month of May was heavily weighted down by melodramatic news events that would appeal to Fox’s native audience. There would not likely be any migration to or from other networks during this time. CNN also benefited from the hard news orientation that is their area of expertise. Not surprisingly, MSNBC, who has soared in recent months, slowed down during this period due to their narrow focus on politics at a time when viewers were seeking out hard news. Even HLN had a solid month due to the various courtroom dramas that were playing out (Arias, Gosnell, etc.).

What is particularly striking though, is that Fox would produce such large gains overall and still decline substantially in the younger demos that advertisers favor. This is further evidence that Fox’s audience is graying at a rapid rate. This means that they will earn far less for their ad time than their competitors who attract a larger share of the demo audience. It also means that they will suffer over time as audiences age.

However, it is inescapable that Fox’s obsession with hyperbolic attacks on President Obama and his administration is not resonating with younger viewers. Fox is repeating the mistakes they committed last year by harping on wild conspiracies, extreme rightist rhetoric, and fantastical allegations for which they have no support. That’s the sort of behavior that turned them into a laughing stock and produced an audience that was stunned when Republicans cratered at the ballot box. The same sort of shock is going to strike Fox viewers when these myriad scandals all peter out. Their gullible audience will once again wonder how Fox could have assured them that the Obama administration was near collapse, but nothing close to that takes place. If there is one constant that Fox is careful to maintain, it is their determination to mislead their flock by feeding them the fringe-flavored chum they crave.

The near future will likely be more of the same barring any unforeseen circumstances. There are no predictable events on the horizon (i.e. elections) that are likely to stir the pot. Although the currently simmering pseudo-scandals may still have a little heat in them, and the Supreme Court will be dropping some decisions this summer. Other than that, stay tuned to be underwhelmed, unless you’re Fox viewer. In which case — be afraid, be very afraid.

Dummy. NASCAR coverage isn't on FNC. It is carried by Fox broadcast affiliates. Not Fox cable.

Ratings are down for ALL cable news, not just fox. MSNBC is completely in the crapper.

More and more people are reading the internet.

Very true. And also true is the fact that Fox dominates all the other cable news outlets....Americans tune in to Fox because they feel they are getting more fair and balanced reporting.

MSNBC makes no bones about it's fawning progressive orientation; and American viewers aren't watching.

.
Incorrect.

Conservatives have one channel to tune to. Thus higher ratings.

Liberal viewers have multiple channels to gather news. Thus they split the liberal viewers.

Glenn Becks channel will start pulling more viewers from Fox the bigger it gets.

Hell I have thought about starting up a crazy right wing network and hiring COG and Whirly as my looney newscasters to give Fox a run for their money! Who cares about the truth anymore?

I guarantee it also has something to do with the teleprompter reading eye candy that Fox hires. some people might not care about the left/right viewpoint and just choose a news channel based on the hot chick factor. I mean who wants to look at some Lou Dobbs looking mo-fo all day when you got other options.

CNN tried to counter the O'Reilly ratings machine with hot chicks.........it failed.....so your theory doesn't hold.....they have since rolled out the gay factor (Cooper Anderson) to go against O'Reilly and that seems to be working somewhat.

But no doubt the Fox chick line up is awesome...and the network isn't shy about promoting their looks and sex appeal.

MSNBC Just Had Its Most Dreadful Ratings Period In 6 Years
Brett LoGiurato, Jul. 3, 2013, 9:19 AM
AP
Despite a heavy period of news that included the Boston Marathon bombings and the Jodi Arias trial, MSNBC's second-quarter ratings plunged to their lowest level since 2007.

In primetime, MSNBC drew an average of 584,000 total viewers and 196,000 viewers in the key 25-54 age demographic. Those numbers were down 16% and 12%, respectively, from the second quarter of 2012. And they accounted for quarter lows not seen since the fourth and second quarters of 2007, respectively.

The network had seen signs of this coming in some dreadful monthly ratings, particularly in May. The same factors contributed to the network's ratings decline over the full quarter. "The Rachel Maddow Show" suffered its lowest-rated quarter in terms of total viewers since 2008. And June alone was the lowest rated month ever for Maddow in both total viewers and in the 25-54 group.

New host Chris Hayes continues to pull in sluggish ratings for "All In With Chris Hayes," which in its first full quarter on air provided MSNBC with the lowest-rated 8 p.m. hour in the 25-54 demographic since 2006.

It comes as a disappointment to a network that built much post-election hype while surging in the key 25-54 demographic immediately after President Barack Obama's re-election. BuzzFeed said MSNBC was poised to challenge Fox News, but that hasn't been the case.
Fox News continues to remain at the top of the ratings among the cable networks, its 46th consecutive quarter there and 138th consecutive month. In total viewers, Fox News beat CNN and MSNBC combined in both total day and in primetime viewers, while surpassing both in the key 25-54 demographic.

The network also had the five highest rated cable news programs in the quarter: "The O’Reilly Factor" (2,859,000 total viewers); "Hannity" (2,107,000); "The Five" (2,096,000); "Special Report with Bret Baier" (2,071,000); and "The Fox Report with Shepard Smith" (1,814,000).

But Fox's total-day viewership gain is most owed to Megyn Kelly, who will soon be moving to primetime. "America Live," in the 1-3 p.m. ET hours, saw its second-best rated quarter ever.

Six months into new President Jeff Zucker's reign, CNN's second-quarter ratings were a bit of a mixed bag. The network did see surges in both total-day and primetime viewers compared to the second quarter of 2012, putting it in second place above MSNBC. Still, its June ratings dipped to the network's lowest point since last August, before Zucker came in.

If you would have taken the time to actually read the article, Assup, you would have seen the following, which, as I said in my post, disagrees with your Newscorpes source's comments on Fox:

"It comes as a disappointment to a network that built much post-election hype while surging in the key 25-54 demographic immediately after President Barack Obama's re-election.
