We all need to go out there and pee into it. That should bring it up a bit.

Wife and I are heading to H-H on Sunday. Doubtful we'll make the climb down the rocks to the water. Might sweat our asses off though.

You can literally drive to the middle of the lake. Sad state of affairs, still fun though.

Down 50+ feet?

Dam! (Joke.)

Time to organize a dive trip. Stuff that would normally be at 100+ will be at 50 ft.

Lake Travis and Buchannan are way down and show no signs of improving.

They'll probably stay that way until we get some sort of flood and they'll come back up to normal level over a week or two.

It's all Obama's fault. Or Bush's fault. Or maybe it was Clinton.

There is a reason why it is so low and it has nothing to do with a drought. The lake is being drained for profit. There is an organization to help stop the draining. Just a couple of years ago the lake was beautiful. Now my dock is sitting on rocks. Good money is paid for these lake front properties to have a view and easy access to our boats and jet ski's. Not so much anymore...

Are you referring to the rice farmers? If so, don't forget that Texas rice brings 2.8 billion into the economy yearly! It's not Texas biggest cash crop, but as the drought and depression continues nationwide, it may become a more valuable commodity.

Here's the LCRA page on their rice operations:
http://lcra.org/water/supply/irrigation.html

That being said, the formation LCRA was an unholy alliance in its time and remains so today.

Unlike reservoirs built by the CCC, Army Corps of Engineers, and WPA projects for which flood control is the primary purpose, the LCRA built Travis and the highland lakes as a means of generating electricity for profit, selling water for profit, and providing entertainment FOR PROFIT. It is NOT about flood control.

All sad, yes. Pulled my boat off Travis all together and let the slip just sit. Wasn't worth doing anymore. Relocated to Lake Austin. Only downside is how much traffic it's getting from Lake Travis overflow boaters. I pretty much decided to just stick with going out during the week and let everyone else have the weekend.
