Default Make Christmas Special For A Child

There are only 10 more weekends until Christmas is here. While we're all living our lives and going thru the day-to-day motions, please consider putting $10 (maybe $20?) aside every Saturday starting tomorrow. If you can spare that every week you'll have a $100 donation by the December 22nd.

Too many children in this area go to bed hungry every night. More will suffer the pain of knowing that Santa must not love them when they wake up Christmas morning with little to eat AND no presents. Many have a parent or parents that work mightily to pay their bills and feed their children but simply do not have spare funds to set aside for Christmas. Can you imagine the hurt inside of them when Christmas rolls around and they're left without funds to make Christmas special for their children. It's something of a universal message delivered annonymously whenever a child can run to the Christmas tree and find gifts addressed to them "From Santa" For a child that's used to nothing even a small gift means something on Christmas; namey that Santa loves them! Those of us blessed with good, steady jobs may already have children of our own for whom we buy gifts at Christmas. If you've made it thru the last several years less scathed than others, it's time to pay it forward.

I've been placing $20 a week in my jar since May and have saved almost $500 to date. I'll add enough when I donate the money to make it an even $1,000. If enough people would do this ($5, $10...$20 every week) it'd make a big difference to a lot of children. It really doesn't matter what charity you select, so long as the donation can go for toys.

I hope this message doesn't draw any cynical responses or get relegated by the Mods to an innocuous location.

txcwby6, a great idea - helping others who could really appreciate the assistance.
i believe that those who have the means do have some obligation to help those who dont have the means. [no need to debate that, i'm just stating my opinion].

thus, i'll be doing this for sure this year.

i also believe that helping others should be more than just a once a year occurrence.

thus, at the beginning of the year, i decided to hobby less [imagine that!!] and instead send donations to several non-profit orgs focusing on education, food banks, emergency relief, domestic abuse prevention, medical care, children, etc. - orgs that help in dallas, the USA, and elsewhere.
i've done so since feb and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

to my fav dfw ladies - sorry that i'm seeing you less, but that's what i've decided is important in my life.

txcwby6, again, a good reminder.

notice also, that in the best bbbj thread, i suggest if, and that's a big if, we should hold a friendly competition, all entry fees could be donated to one or more non-profits here in the dfw area.

I was almost afeared to read your last posting, thinking you may propose a taint for tots program.

Default Christmas giving .....

A funny story that happened to my wife and I ,3 years in a row ...the ending the same but three different stories very similar ........A friend of my wifes told her that her Church was sponsering a family for Xmas......and they had two boys that needed Bikes .....We suggested that we buy the two bikes .....We went to Wal-Mart to purchase two bikes ....Two boys looking about same age as boys we were getting bikes for, were shopping with their Mom..this is a week before Xmas ...We asked Mom if the boys could help us pick out bikes for the Church boys ....and of course they did ....The two boys helping us showed us that they had $25.00 gift cards from Wal-Mart for their Xmas ..and were excited by the cards ( their only xmas ).When they got two bikes picked out for us Old Folks...LOL....My wife looked at me and we just nodded to each other ....then asked the Mom if we could buy her two boys each a bike .....and she finally relented and said YES ......the boys were excited and each picked out a bike ...as they were finishing ...Grandma(to the two boys) walked around the corner of the bike aisle ....The two boys ran over to greet her and their TWO sisters unknown to us ,and tell them about the bikes .....My wife and I started to laugh and said Why Not ??? so we told the two girls to pick out a bike each also....we ended up with us purchasing SIX Bikes that evening ...and LOVED every minute of it ..just to see the kids smiles and make their Xmas a little better...we did that the last two Xmas also and will do it again this year ......We have more fun than the kids .....

I offered to set the thread ablaze with taint to get you tards to read it and commit to helping. But TC6 thought it would be best to keep it serious. I maybe a big dick but I am not too big an ass when it comes to charity.

I also assumed ... I assumed you were in the Central TX area and it would be easier for you to contribute locally. I am sure TC6 would be tickled pinck to have you join the throng of elftards contributing.

Helping others is great and not only at Christmas,
I used to give I think it was just 12$ a month to
feed the children and didn't really even think about
it that much. At the end of the year they sent me
a list of how much food they had purchased in that
year with my 12$ a month and I was totally blown
away. I need to start doing that again.

Well...post it in the correct forum, please. It's not hobby-related. It doesn't belong in co-ed.
