In N Out!
No, not a sex technique, just really, really great burgers, fries and shakes-many say the very best fast food burgers in the country, until now available only in the West.
For those of us who are already addicts and have to travel to feed our addiction, and those who may be interested or just 'burger curious', channel 8 said on the news yesterday that In N Out is opening its first Texas location in Firewheel Town Center-no statement about when. Usually, when In N Out opens one, ten or fifteen follow in the local area.
We already have the best women; now we'll have best burgers, too. Nothing not to like.
Respectfully,
Jack

I lived in LA almost 9 years from 2000-oct 2008. I lived down the block from a In and Out in West Hollywood. Literally a line always out the door and drive thru was always 10 cars deep. I think Majic Johnson owns a bunch of them

Nope. All In-n-Outs are company owned. They don't franchise. They don't open another store until they can pay cash for everything. They don't carry debt. At all.

In N Out Burger is coming to the DFW area, they tried to come here a few years ago when the majority of the senior management staff were killed in a plane crash.
First In N Out chose the area around Fire Wheel for a few reasons. Limited competition in the area, an up-scale major retail development, and the residential growth in the area is incredible. Too bad they did not truly understand the DFW market, Garland has one of the lowest per capita spending for restaurants in the nation.
In N Out is a private company with public debt. They dont build out of cash, they finance a lot just like most private companies. Groups like Carrol's Corporation which is the nations 8th largest restaurant company and owns some 400 Burger Kings, Taco Cabana and El Pollo Tropical is also private but has public debt. Many restaurant companies will build new facilities, then package a group of restaurants and enter into a "sale-lease back". The restaurant company becomes a tenant instead of owning the property.
In N Out is a great company, a very good product but they are all company owned. Majic Johnson is a Burger King franchisee and he could therefore not own another burger concept. It will take time for In N Out to enter into a new market, their name and product will carry them, but I know how difficult it is for a company such as this to enter a new market, especially the DFW area. TV Advertising here is the third most expensive in the nation. The area is huge, and lots of competition here most other chains do not encounter in other markets.
Carl's Jr. also from southern California came here in the mid-80's they built 22 restaurants and had several other properties they never developed, yet they all closed and packed their bags and left town. Its not just developing new restaurants, its putting in the right management team and support staff.
Yes I have been in the restaurant business since 1982.

Quoted for truth! When I'm in the OC and/or LA area, I always make it a point to stop by and grab a burger - animal style. And their fries are to die for (they make them fresh!). I'll be back in LA the week of 6/13 and will mos def grab me some In N Out!

I was in LA last weekend and hit both Pinks and In and Out. Best hot dogs and best burgers in one weekend.
It was funny reading the comments from the whataburger lovers saying they are better. I can eat whataburger, barely though.

Whataburger is a Texas home owned company, the first restaurant opened in 1950 in Corpus Christi by Harmon Dobson. The restaurant was actually constructed on a wheeled platform so the restaurant could be moved to accomadate a change in traffic patterns. Whataburger uses fresh ground meat, and they have their own herds, its quite an operation. They also own their own farm where they grow onions. This is a great chain with a loyal following and very good product. In N Out is also a great chain with a very good product, it will be interesting to see how these two private owned restaurant chains do in a head up competition, let the games begin.
