Providers and First Aid???

Recalling a conversation with a provider I saw while I was a little hopped up on Monster and Sudafed... she told me that she didn't know CPR. So that go me wondering...

Should providers have some solid first aid training?

The fact of the matter is that some (many??) of us are older, not in top physical condition, and engaging in what could be quite vigorous activity. Certainly not unheard of for a hobbyist to suffer some kind of emergency while in the saddle.

Wouldn't it be a likely "next step" for them (or someone) to call 911 if such a situation arose? As a Medic First Aid Trainer, if I were to use CPR on someone, there's no way I'd let them just get up and leave.. assuming they came back to conscious life. Not that it's not a good skill for everyone to know.. I think there are some here that would rather take their chances than have the authorities called, no?
Either way, possibly your life would change after such an incident..

It would definitely be beneficial to brush up on that.

I think its important for everyone provider or not to know some first aid. There are many places locally and online that offer free or very low cost classes to get certified. You never know if a loved one or stranger may need help sometime and with the proper training you could potentially save someones life.

Well, Nuglet, I kind of thought calling 911 was a given rather than the provider deeming you fit for service and sending you on your merry way. Although, yes it would certainly could lead to some, "What were you doing there?", questions from the peanut gallery.

I have long had this theory, although I cannot prove it out just yet. I do agree that one of you out of shape mongers could possibly succumb during the act. This could be tragic as it would take $ out of the rotation, but also a good thing in that it might free up some calendars for some of us who don't have a foot in the grave just yet.

But, back to my theory...I know at least for me, that mouth to mouth resusitation is NOT the best way to revive me. I find, that a Vigorous cock sucking, followed by some balls to the wall cowgirl quickly pumps life back into my limbs...
