The title is a variation of the title of a book by Stuart Chase, The Road We are Traveling.

Stuart Chase was a member of the Fabian Society (a socialist group); he coined the phrase new deal. His book was written in 1942. It layed out the socialist agenda planned for America. Most of the goals proposed in his book have been accomplished.

The title of Obama's propaganda film is a sort of inside joke. It's a way of indirectly acknowledging his socialist roots without saying it directly.

I remember that the economic outlook was more serious than the threat we faced on 9/11 by a HUGE amount.

Actually Tom Hanks made the quote that you referenced but it was an obvious attempt on your part to take the quote out of context. At the actual time it was made, your referenced Hanks quote had absolutely nothing to do with President Obama.

On the other hand, the quote Hanks made about Barack Obama was: "Let's remember how far we've come. And look forward to the work still to be done."
