First Visit to New Orleans! Is this a good area?
I am going to be in New Orleans 3/21-3/24!
It's my very first time to visit...and I am very excited!!!
I'm going with a friend for fun. But, I thought I would work at least one day while I'm there. I know I'll be staying near the Riverwalk Market Center.
My question is...
Is that a good area of town? I know it might be for travelers. But, what about you guys who live in New Orleans?
I have absolutely no idea. New Orleans Virgin.
Did I say......"WOO HOO"??!!!
WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!
I'm so freakin excited.

It is safe and convenient to some great restaurants and bars. Not terribly far from the French Quarter. Have fun in New Orleans.

Thank you so much!
I am really excited about going!
I had no intention of working....but, I thought 1 day wouldn't be so bad! Plus, I NEVER TRAVEL. So, I just thought I'd check it out. See what it's like.
I didn't know if this would be a good spot for the guys who actually live there? Or if it's really more for the traveling man. Either way is fine.... was just hoping it was safe and convenient!!
Did I say....
WOO HOO?!?
Oh, right right....I did.
(wooooo hooooooo)
Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Kelly after viewing your showcase, let me know where u are staying and I am there!!!! You are one sexy lady!!
First time in Nola, well if u like oysters, I recommend eating at Drago's in Hilton hotel close to riverwalk, I love their charbroiled oysters. Also, if u like history, take the tour which includes the grave site of Marie Leveau, very interesting. Lots of live music and dancing if u like that. This is a wonderful city to visit, also take a riverboat ride, there is one w dinner and music, dancing and sometimes a stand up comedian. See we have it all!!!! If u need any info of how to book I will gladly help

Kelly TNT in new orleans--well hobbyist beware--this lady is something else, believe me! Hi Ms Kelly--its me, yohollyrock from dallas--plenty of restaurants close to where you are staying. Visit the River Walk mall (fun shopping) take a walk down Decatur St (plenty of shops and antique stores) visit Jackson Square and you have to eat some beignets and have their coffee! Royal St has an abundance of really neat old jewelry and antiques. The food is the best you'll ever encounter!! Just be careful at nite if you go out--plenty of predators lurking in the dark--don't walk down empty steets at nite. Stay on busy streets and don't walk alone. And don't trust anyone who tries to approach you on the streets--this is a great city to visit, but it is extremely dangerous to virgin tourists. Be careful and have a good time. Call me if you need anything. --YOHOLLYROCK

Kelly, just sent you a pm through p411. Would definitely be interested to meet you and to offer tourist advice. First you have to decide what type of food you want...we got just about any type of cuisine you could want. Same for the music, pick a genre and you can find it most likely. As for daytime touring, I like the FQ too, have taken riverboat rides, and I also like just walking around the uptown area (garden district) or go to our zoo (one of the best in the country if you like zoos). Just have fun, which isn't hard to do here. You may want to come back more often, and see new friends.
BTW, when is the next M&G? Does that coincide with Kelly's visit?

That is a safe area. The Grill Room at Windsor Court is close by. An excellent choice for a nice dinner. Can recommend Mr. B's in the quarter - Cafe Du'Mond for morning coffee. Excellent Jazz Club at one of the Hotels in the Quarter. All a short distance from where you will be.

Unfortunately, Kelly is missing the M&G by a few hours!!!! I am sure she will meet up with some of the late-nighters that hang after the event! Timing sucks, she wanted to come and we were excited to have her there.

No it isnt. It may be great for food, shopping and drinking but parking is a nightmare. I had an incall appointment 2 weeks ago near the Convention center and after 30 minutes of searching, I finally found a parking lot. The cost was $15. I ended up being 30 minutes late. I could have parked at the Hilton and walk a mile. The Riverwalk parking lot is now contract parking only. Finding a free spot on the street is nearly impossible on a weekend or at night unless you're willing to walk 6 or more blocks.
