Default LOST~The Series: Anyone else been watching? 6 episodes left! Thoughts?

I was just wondering if there were any other LOST fans out there who have been watching, and waiting, for some sort of answer to all this. I missed most of last night's episode, so I am going to have to go catch up on the DVR.

I thought I had it all figured out last week, but the more I think about it, the more LOST I get! My head is going to explode! All I know is, they better not pull a "Sopranos" ending on me, or I will never watch another series again.

It seems that there were a lot of biblical references in last week's episode..Jacob dunking Richard in the ocean(baptismal reference), using the bottle of wine as a metaphor for the island, Jacob explaining free will to Richard, in much the way the book of Job describes God allowing the Devil to tempt Job....good/evil, ect...but then who is Whidmore? Where does he fit into all this?! I can't take it anymore, man! I can't stop watching, either!

Has anyone else been watching, and what do you think is going to happen?? Are you LOST, too?

Oh yeah, been watching for years. Wednesday mornings at work is all about dissecting the last "Lost" episode. I love this series. With most TV shows and movies I can chart the beginning through the end with each plot point. I can't with this one... it keeps me guessing and I like that.

The season has a definite biblical theme to it. I picked up on that right away.

So far my favorite episode (for the season) was the Richard-centric episode. I liked it because it was outside of the norm (even for Lost) and it was an interesting story. It was Richard's crisis of faith and it took Hurley (one of my favorite characters) to reel him in.

I am not sure what Widmore's position is... at first I thought he was power hungry opposite of Linus, but after last night I think he might be aligned with good (but I am not sure what he is doing with "The Package" (don't want to spoil that for you in case you haven't seen it yet)).

The flash sideways are interesting... but I am kind of hoping they fit somewhere in the story (and not just because the writers ran out of flashback stories).

I am still trying to figure out who the entire list of candidates are.

I'm kind of thinking that the flash sideways are actually flash forwards; I think they are showing us what happens in their lives as a result of making the right decision, and it doesn't make sense now, but it will all come together in the end...I mean, Sawyer is a cop?! WTF??

Love, love, loved the 'Richard' episode. Also my favorite of the series, thus far.
I am also finding myself feeling sorry for Ben, I want to give him a hug and be his friend. Poor guy! Just when I'm feeling sorry for him, he'll end up being the black smoke's love child or something.

See, I am thinking the flash sideways is some parallel universe... and the events with the parallel universe will merge back with the original timeline. Remember in the flash sideways when Jack was on the plane and he found himself cut and bleeding and had the appendectomy scar (which he got in the original timeline)? He never remembered having an appendectomy as a kid!

I think this season is going to be the redemption for Ben Linus... and he is probably going to have a sacrifice to save one of the candidates.

I did like Ben's flash sideways where he basically gave a small sacrifice for Alex to get into a good school.

Only SIX episodes left!

This is the only show I know of that can successfully work string theory into it's storyline! Where is Stephen Hawking when you need him?! LOL!

And that scientist... Jeremy Lantham... he had a lot geek speak on the show too.

Speaking of Stephen Hawking, I saw Tom Green at the Improv a few weeks ago. One of his jokes was about Hawking's voicebox. He said, "With today's technology you would think he could update that voice." Good point.

Okay five episodes left; tonight's episode only left me more LOST. I thought I had an idea where they were headed with this, and then BAM! It's as though I just had a roundhouse kick to the forehead, ala Chuck Norris.

I'm clueless, and frustrated as Hell.

I just hope they give Hurley a happy ending. I have a Hurley crush

I just saw that post...that is a good point! Gosh I wish I would have known that Tom Green was here, I would have loved to see that show. I love him!! He's a nut case!

Watched it tonight. I think I know what it happening. The flash sideways is a divergent universe. Something is happening to bring the two universes together. I think what Desmond is seeing is both of those universes. Remember when he did that a few seasons back?

I also think Eloise has some insight as to what Desmond's role is supposed to be.

i've been watching LOST since day 1, i agree the flash forwards seem to make the show kinda confusing, but on 2days episode it seem like there was a parallel universe thing goin on, but im been addicted since it premiered

OK, we are conditioned to think that time is linear, we are born, we age, we die. Perhaps a more effective way to look at time is that it is all happening at the same time. Every thing that has ever happened and will happen is happening right now. Remember the photo experiment in Time Line? Maybe the machinery on the island is to send people to another time that is occurring right now? BEATS THE HELL OUTTA ME.

Was talking with the usual Lost group at work today. Our take on what happened with Desmond last night -

Since Desmond has jumped through time/consciousness before it fits that he could do so again. So Widmore brings Desmond to the island and subject him to giant electromagnet (which he survives). I think that when Desmond passed out on the island and in the flash sideways, their consciousnesses (and shared knowledge) merged. That was why he was so willing to work for Widmore when he woke up... he already had knowledge of working for Widmore in the flash sideways.

Okay so they went from a fairly spiritual episode, to a very scientific episode dealing in quantum mechanics and non-local connection (or entanglement), mixed in with a little presentism vs. eternalism...if you really start looking into it, there are a hundred different possibilites. Here's some light reading (I actually enjoy reading this kind of stuff ) on using quantum entaglement in time travel...seems like that is what's going on here, for sure:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_tr...m_entanglement skip down to where they talk about traversable wormholes...

"According to current theories on the nature of wormholes, construction of a traversable wormhole would require the existence of a substance with negative energy (MAN IN BLACK) . More technically, the wormhole spacetime requires a distribution of energy that violates various energy conditions, such as the null energy condition along with the weak, strong, and dominant (jacob)energy conditions. However, it is known that quantum effects can lead to small measurable violations of the null energy condition, and many physicists believe that the required negative energy may actually be possible due to the Casimir effect in quantum physics.Although early calculations suggested a very large amount of negative energy would be required, later calculations showed that the amount of negative energy can be made arbitrarily small."

Yeah... I thought it was supposed to answer questions and tie things up. It seems like it is just opening it up for more questions.

I can see them as divergent energy sources (with the Man In Black as negative and Jacob as the positive). Maybe they appear to people as the form of good and evil? Could they not interact with one another (meaning they can't kill each other) because they are opposite. If so, how does the dagger work? Again, it's frustrating to think of these questions? Also, would the writer be this detailed with wormholes and energy distributions?

Whatever the case, I hope the writers don't write themselves into a corner.

Some random thoughts on Lost - the one show that everyone in my family enjoys watching:

First, there are too many "loose ends" to tie up in just six more episodes. I am afraid that the writers are going to leave some questions unanswered in the final episode.

Second, Daniel's latest comments seem to indicate that the alternate universe that was created by the H-bomb was a mistake and had to be undone. With a few exceptions, the alternate universe seems to be a place where each characters gets what they always really wanted - Jack is a good father, Hurley is lucky and successful, Desmond gets the approval of Charles Widmore, Daniel pursues music rather than physics, Sahid always wanted Nadia to be happy, Linus has a good relationship with his father, etc. Yet many of the characters are missing "love", the love that made their lives bearable in the chaotic world of the island-based reality. It is also interesting that most characters have the same moral attitude in both universes EXCEPT Benjamin Linus. He is evil in the real world and a saintly teacher in the alternate universe. What are they trying to say about free will?

Third, Ms. Whitmore (Daniel's mother) has consciousness across time/dimension's like Desmond does. She, Jacob, and the Smokeman are almost likes gods from a mythology.

Question: What does Desmond need the manifest for?
