Default economic downturn on the way......?

Food and delivery companies often indicate an early indicator of an economic slowdown.

Fedex cut their 2025 guidance dramatically
Walmart advises growth will be 1/3 of what was forecast
Dominos pizza showing a big decrease in deliveries
McDonalds offering a bleak year for 2025

And this is just the beginning of 2025, and what else will come.....

Folks certainly seem to assume so with Trump's stupid ass tariffs. When people aren't confident in the economy, they don't spend like they do when they are. They save and cut down on luxuries and stick more with necessities... like I've posted many times previously, a quick simple indicator is the stock market. Constant ambiguity with zero direction is never good for the economy. That's exactly what we have now with Donald Chump.

U.S. consumer confidence continued its sharp 2025 decline as Americans’ views about their financial futures slumped to a 12-year low, driven by rising anxiety over tariffs and inflation.

The Conference Board reported Tuesday that its consumer confidence index fell 7.2 points in March to 92.9, the fourth straight monthly decline and its lowest reading since January of 2021. The reading was short of analysts expectations for a reading of 94.5, according to a survey by FactSet.

If the American Voters can not wait for President Trump’s policies to rectify the absolute disastrous policies of the last four years, then they don’t deserve anything.

Why did Trump promise lower prices to begin right after he was elected ? Apparently he didn't believe voters would wait.

Why couldn't he have said he will introduce new policies that will cause a lot of pain and hardship, until they start to work ?

Trump will be fortunate to keep the Republican majority in Congress in the next mid term elections.

Default First, the good news. Then the bad...

Common sense would dictate that Trump was going to come out the gate "hot" and rightly so. BTW: Prices on some things have come down already. Gas and eggs being but two examples.

Again, common sense, which obviously is lacking in the Demonicrats paradigm. Sorry "valued poster", there is no magic wand to fix the last 4 years of F-ups. It will take a little time and roil markets, until they can gain their sea legs again, as results roll in.

Maybe a better measure will be in how many lawfare attacks flair up, with more being more better and optimistic. I think we're already into record setting territory and he hasn't even hit second gear yet.

Well... so that's the bad news part of this show.

Behind the Curtain: Dems' dark, deep hole

Top Democrats tell us their party is in its deepest hole in nearly 50 years — and they fear things could actually get worse
  • The party has its lowest favorability ever.
  • No popular national leader to help improve it.
  • Insufficient numbers to stop most legislation in Congress.
  • A durable minority on the Supreme Court.
  • Dwindling influence over the media ecosystem, with right-leaning podcasters and social media accounts ascendant.
  • Young voters are growing dramatically more conservative.
  • A bad 2026 map for Senate races.
  • Democratic Senate retirements could make it harder for the party to flip the House, with members tempted by statewide races.
  • There are only three House Republicans in districts former Vice President Harris won in 2024, a dim sign for a Democratic surge. There were 23 eight years ago in seats Hillary Clinton won.
  • And, thanks to the number of people fleeing blue states, the math for a Dem to win the presidency will just get harder in 2030...
Best get to battening down yer hatches laddy, the Storm has arrived.

For me, I just don't enjoy eating out since Covid. I was greatly disappointed this last weekend. And I can see others not throwing away $$$ during these times if you ain't gonna be satified with a dining experience.

Beat me to posting the consumer confidence numbers.
What say you maggies? What are y'all doing to shoot those numbers back up? I noticed NaCl-y not doing his fair share by not buying a tesla because he don't like the price. That ain't showing confidence.

Sorry NaCl-y.

That shoppers gazette of yours has a tiny circulation area that barely makes it to the parking lot.

Hate to burst your bubbles.... Not really but a couple weeks ago I was tipped off to an interview from last year. It was a Tim Pool podcast and the guy was talking the imminent collapse of things like Dollar General and other stores. Some of the final victims of covid. They started shutting before the election.

Market down another 700 points today.

While everyone waits as Trump conducts his experiments on the economy, and creates more and more uncertainty.

The market will recover, it always does. If you have a low risk tolerance you should be invested accordingly.

... And the DOGE savings thus offset the tariff threats.
