Apparently the Iranian's asked for help as the Russian provided defensive systems had difficulty against Israeli in-bound munitions.
I do note that airplane accidents happen all the time, regardless of who the passengers are.
Israel has a stockpile of Sky Spear missiles, a 6th gen air to air long range item manufactured by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems that was introduced fall of 2023.

there's only one explanation .. it helps the US that we have an ally, Israel, that can take care of itself rather than rely on the US to do it for them. unlike .. NATO.
