Default Going in hotels

I just laugh when I read someone saying they fear the "prying eyes" of the front desk staff.

I travel a lot. Come and go at odd hours because of work. And play. Met people at their hotels for meetings and interviews. I simply walk into any hotel like I belong there. IMHO trying to skulk by the front desk only brings attention.

Why does this bother many of you? Am I missing something? Ladies, your thoughts too.

Its like scoring a touchdown which ive never done! Look like you have done it before!
Lol if they ask " who the hell are you" just say " im here for a friend" and walk away...if they say " what room" just say " i got it" and walk away.

You all are missing an obvious bit of reality.

The front desk clerks are well aware of what goes on in hotels. As are the maids.

I remember clerks betting on how long a guy would be upstairs. And they were embarrassed when I asked to get in on the betting pool.

Guys being awkward in the lobby is what would start the time count on if a half hr, hr, or multi hr betting pool bracket.
And btw, the gal clerks were in on the betting also. I recall one gal that saw me win a few pools as if I knew something, and then bet the same, and we split a handful of pools over my time running that place.

So perhaps the clerks are asking questions so they can bet the pool correctly.

I will come in the front, but will try to leave by a side door. They might know where I went, but they may not see me leave.

UC That's funny stuff< personally I just walk in like I own the place whether it's my room or someone else's. Pretty much exactly as big deal described. You act like you know where you're at and what you're doing they don't think much of it

Exactly doll. Thats why if you visit a new hotel, its helpful if whomever has the room, lets you know which way to turn for the elevator etc.. when they give you the room number. It helps you have that "I know where I'm going" look about you.

Always get clear instructions on the layout of hotel before hand.
And don’t arrive early and sit in the parking lot .
Walk with a purpose and confidence.
Or meet up before hand to grab lunch to go and walk into hotel together carrying lunch .
And I don’t recommend visiting high volume girls in hotels or any other place .
I’ve been known to allow my guests to swim their swim trunks and use the pool with me.
Room is booked for two so nothing wrong with it. Just remember pool had cameras , save your funny business for the room, not in the pool. Nobody likes getting banned from hotels.

LMAO. It reminds me of a Pink Panther movie when Peter Sellers would put on a disguise. Do that and you'll be noticed. Otherwise they don't care.
BD and UC are correct.

I say bull shit. Been running hotels for 38 years and that is an incorrect statement especially with today’s talent pool and labor market. They are so busy checking people in, answering the phone, taking care of guests problems they look past you as a person just in la la land. Besides that when they are taking care of hotel business they are on there cell texting or tick tok. If you act normal you ARE wall paper.! This is reality.

Topgun,
Once everyone is checked in, it's boring. Ignoring time doing other stuff (currently cattle), I started running hotels over 40 years ago.
Remember, cell phones did not exist in the early 80s.

Some other thoughts about the above posts:

Remember to wave at the camera. All entrances and exits have cameras nowadays. Besides, it's easy to use the video time stamp to determine which pool bracket wins.

Correct YD,
Well actually, act like you're a VIP paying hotel resident. That classification is the most favored of about a dozen profiles that all guests are tagged with during the reservation process. Btw, the special occasion guest (weddings, reunions etc) are usually the most headaches (drunks). For all, "business meetings" will always get one of the top three favored guest profiles.

9 corrects in a row.
But one clarification, the cameras are everywhere nowadays. All entrances/exits, pool, main lobby, elevators, elevator lobbies, hallways, parking lots, etc. Insurance companies require that.

and never bring flowers or gift bags...obvious!!!

funny story... there is a massage parlor next door to my market..i was there one day at the market and saw a well dressed guy leave the massage parlor and walk way down past the flea market diwn to end of oarking lot where he had parked his car...the flea market cashier told ne that he was a district judge and visited it every week...lol

Ummmmm in this “technology” age, I wouldn’t be caught dead (literally) in someone else’s hotel room. I have my own ma’am. But thank you.
