Default Trump promises then and now

President-elect Trump on the campaign trail made grandiose promises to voters to bring down costs quickly, to end the war in Ukraine before he even took office and to use tariffs to bolster the U.S. economy and manufacturing.

Since winning November’s election, Trump has indicated delivering on those promises may not be as simple as advertised.

Trump in 2016 made a slew of campaign promises he struggled to deliver on. He repeatedly vowed he would build a wall along the southern border and that Mexico would pay for it, and while there was some new construction of barriers, Mexico did not foot the bill.

He also promised to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, known as ObamaCare. Republicans managed to get rid of the individual mandate portion of the law, but Trump and lawmakers failed to get rid of it or pass a health care plan of their own.

Nobody cares.

This is a new day. Either accept it or get out of the way.

Getting pretty stale in here with the MAGAs.

I may come back in a year and see what is happening. The site has become useless, and not even very entertaining.

Useless happens when the posts are a bunch of repetitive leftist whining. Nobody cares about your butthurt.

It is hardly a new day. We have already seen the Trump show and if Harris was elected, we would have just received more reruns of the Biden show, which is why I didn't even bother to vote because as neither a Democrat, MAGA Republican nor real Republican, I didn't really give a shit who won.

Both candidates gave a bunch of empty promises that won't be kept. That is how the game is played. That is to be expected.

Like I tell people in my personal life, I don't give a shit about words, I care about actions. It's a bit early to pass judgement on actions yet IMO regardless of who was elected before they are even officially in office. Give it some time for the Trump naysayers like me and call bullshit later if warranted but to do so this early is a little premature at this point in time.

... Too Right, Lucas - words don't impress me - actions do!

And in yer-own case - IN-ACTION - as you didn't even vote...

Though I agree that 's much too early to judge Trump and His
promises now -as He's not even on yet.

I don't think the original post was about judging him on his results, it's just a statement of fact that he made promises he's already crawfishing on before taking office. I'll happily tip my hat to all of you Trump fans if he can get gas below 2/gallon...without completely tanking the economy. Please note that last part, it's important. Another pandemic with global shutdowns doesn't count.

Once again. Nobody cares.

The main object of any election is to win. And, in this case, keep that stupid Cunt Drunk Kamala from being President.

Politicians, especially Presidential Candidates, always over promise. They no that in reality they will have to work with the Legislature and within the confines of Constitution.

We all know what Trump wants. First and foremost, close that damned Border. Second, open up the energy sector where once again, just like in his first term. Energy independence is paramount. Third, get Russia and Ukraine to stop the shooting. Thousands are dying for what now seems to be a stalemate. Trumps main goal, for the moment, is to stop the needless killing. Forth, start cleaning out the waste in Government.

There are a lot of other issues. Dropping the income tax on tips and overtime is a big one. Dropping income tax on seniors who draw Social Security is another.

But keeping that Drunk out of the White House was first. The Biden fiasco can officially end.

That opens the door to Making America Great Again.

For those that can’t stand the thought. In four years, you will have a chance to change things.

Below $2 a gallon is not a realistic goal although it WAS $1.87/gal about 4 years ago.

Inflation from Jan 2021 until end of Nov 2024 is 21+% on a basket of goods determined by US BLS. So $2.26/gallon is a win, anything significantly below that most likely a sign of a really bad economy or one that is not good for the energy business. Remember in Texas 38.4 cents of each gallon of gasoline goes to state and federal taxes.

Having said that, Trump is already shaking things up and will decrease regulation and help businesses which in turn should help the economy. MAGA!

Gas under 2 dollars and energy independence is a joke. A fucking talking point.

Team red hat has been touting that since a pandemic ran into nobody buying gas...hence the sub 2 dollar range. No oil company is gonna over-produce at that level again. Do you guys remember all the oil companies and drilling companies that went out of business at that time? Of course you conveniently forget that.

Borders aren't really the problem either, it's the enforcement of immigration laws. If you're not going to enforce the laws on the book, what would making a bigger wall or more laws do?

Trump has made promises he will NOT EVER be able to complete. If he thinks that egg prices and inflation is a snap your fingers thing, he's living in denial. Along with wars etc. Why did the Arabs shoot up Israel like the wild bunch???

Cause they hate Jews...had nothing to do with Biden or the BULLSHIT Abraham Accords. If they were worth a shit, there would be no war there.

That's how you know they were about as worthwhile as outhouse paper.

Russia is just another ruse of Trump having sway and control in the world. The Chinese are willing to burn down the economy if need be.

What promises has Trump made that has a plan besides tarrifs or drilling wells.

That's gonna be REALLY empty promises come a year or so, but the transformation of women's rights and voting rights or our government agencies...those will be on the burn after reading piles of all team Red Hats.

And the Dems will be gathering to sharpen up a political knife or two, and likely a few Republicans who value some sense of morals and a compass that doesn't mean destroying America as we know it

Trump will get his Et tu Brute moment soon enough!

More wrong Bull Pucky like usual from Democrats. They have no clue how wrong their policies were under Biden and how the world attacked others because of Biden's weakness and wrong headed policies.

Why don't you site your resources of the bullcucky you speak. More opinions from the right vs actual facts.

Tell us how it was Joe's weakness that inspired the Jew hating Iran and others that allowed them to roll-in to say...."now is out time to shoot up Israel!!". Weve stood by Israel as a country since 1948 as the first to recognize them as a nation state.

Or about how energy production which has steadily increased since 2020, is the issue with high prices.

Or specifically how Trump will reduce gasoline costs!!?

We'll wait.

Exploration of oil fields is a fixed cost and so it producing those wells. Tell us what magic wand you think Trump has!?

... America drilling its-own Oil will be a GIANT step to reducing
energy prices. ... The other nations will sell it cheaper.
Pipeline with Canada (maybe the 51st state) and there's already
a waving of the magic wand... ... A Promise Kept.

... LESS transportation costs will begin to Lower food prices.
Yet-another wave of the wand. ... Abra-Cadabra!

... See? ... THE VOTERS actually believe Trump will achieve
these things - and why? ... Because Trump has done it before!

THAT is why Trump WON in a Landslide! ... To make America GREAT again!

Salty, you are attempting to explain political realities to people who were willing to pawn off a drunk ex Sugar Baby on America in an attempt to retain power and keep their “Make America Last” agenda in play.
