Illinois: "Protect Illinois Communities Act"
The Illinois PICA was passed in 2023 in response to the Mass Shooting in Highland Park, Ill. during a 4th of July Parade, whereby seven people were killed and many injured. The PICA act Prohibits the sale, manufacture, delivery and purchase of Assault Weapons (AR-15). Restricts the sale of High-Capacity Magazines, requires, requires AR-15 owners prior to the ban to register their weapon with the Illinois State Police.

Not sure what the deal is. I lived in Illinois 15 years ago and even back then you had to have a FOID issued from the state police regardless of the weapon type. Took me about 6 months for the background check to complete to get my card. So happy to have escaped that shitty state for the South and eventually By God Texas.

I lived in Illinois too, born and raised. I left in 1980. Illinois is Politically corrupt and the majority of the people that live in Illinois especially in and around the Chicago land are just a bunch of woke liberals that just can't get their heads out of their asses. But the farm communities are for the most part conservative.

Yeah, it sure is. It's deemed unconstitutional but what else is new in a Blue State.

Why are people so obsessed with the AR platform? They’re fun because of all the aftermarket stuff people bolt on, but essentially a weak weapon. They were developed primarily for being easy to shoot and have ammo that’s easier to carry around than 308. The round itself isn’t much more than a high velocity 22LR. It’s far from the world’s most dangerous weapon. Most owners just use them for target practice. If the shit ever hit the fan I’d much rather have an AK (which doubles as a billy club) or an AR10.

They're fun? I'm sure Illinois considered more important issues than fun.
Like public safety, cutting down mass shootings and protecting citizens from war weapons. Try again

They aren't war weapons, that is the lie Democrats tell to grab guns from everyone.

Uhhh wrong. Assault weapons are exactly that. To assault a combatant with overwhelming firepower. Battlefield weapon definition. Glad to see Illinois trying to reduce mass killings and protect citizens

They’re definitely fun, to shoot and personalize. I don’t think there’s a factory part left on my oldest’s, maybe a couple screws. They’re great to shoot too, reasonable price for a rifle round, accurate and low recoil. Because you’re afraid of the scary looking rifle doesn’t make everyone the same, and your assertion that banning them will somehow save lives is as retarded of a claim as has ever been made. People are killed every day in this country with handguns, not rifles. If you are truly concerned with safety (you’re not) you should be advocating getting rid of sidearms. Good luck with that.

LMAO!!! A semi-auto 223 does not produce “overwhelming firepower”.

The Ruger Mini-14, which has been around forever, is chambered in 223, is also semi automatic, and shoots just as fast as a AR-15 platform.
It’s just not scary looking.

LOL. to assault the combatant with overwhelming firepower? I feel like I've just been assaulted by overwhelming ignorance.
What you don't know about firearms and Infantry small squad or company levels tactics could fill the Smithsonian.
Why would you even say such ridiculous things? You have to be a troll account.
