We could go on forever about dumbass calls! That was just a minor one if you ask me. Most calls are dumbass calls...whats your rate, are you offering any discounts, do you do this or that...etc. Maybe there should be a thread on proper hobbyist phone etiquette.

Just curious, if you are tired of stupid phone calls, why publish your phone number ? Seems like stupid e-mails would be easier to deal with than stupid phone calls.

Rather than endlessly complain about these calls and roll your eyes, why not offer some helpful suggestions on how you want guys to proceed?

Here's the way I make calls. I'll leave out the stuff about references, etc, just to make this shorter but basically here's how it goes. Critique me and offer advice on a better way:

Jan: Hi, I was interested in making an appt. for today. Are you available late afternoon or early evening? (I'm not trying to be vague. I'm establishing the timeframe I have available and letting her know I'm flexible)

Her: Sorry, no openings today...or

I do have some time available for that timeframe. What time do you want?

Jan: How about 4:00?

Her: That would be fine. Give me a call about half an hour before then and I'll give you directions.

Jan: That would be great. See you then.

This is why I don't list a number anymore. If I don't see refs in the first email, it's spam with no explination. It's ludicrous to have to keep repeating the same crap over and over because they can't read!! Very pleased with my stable of fine men who do lol.

Jan...very nice! I hate it when guys give you no clue at all about when or WHERE they want to book, and you're just supposed to guess. Then you spend 20 min. of back and forth trying to pull it out of them. Why not just give her a time in the first place...good lord!

CG..right on. Emails are MUCH easier and more discreet to deal with. No one knows what I am typing back on my Blackberry unless they are looking at my facial expressions whilst doing it...pretty funny actually!
