Without a doubt, nuclear weapons have stopped World Wars like those that occurred in the 20th century. All the other items you wrote, not so much as there is constant fighting regionally with genocide being done on a regular basis.

Nobody wants a nuke dropped on them or a dirty bomb being detonated on their shore, or have a nation pursue them like has been done by several, until they die by the one pursuing them.

WW2 We let the Russians over run berlin ( which started the cold war which is really still going ) and we dropped 2 very big bombs on japan and completely re built there country and made there car industry

Then the Vietnam war (conflict) may have been inevitable, as only proxy wars could be fought. Perhaps that needs to be considered as a balance for the government decisions and criticisms that came after. A conflict that could have been over in 2 days......with the available weapons.....if leaders chose to do so.
