Default The Summer of Love!!!!!!

Yep, the carnage continues in Chicago. Two shot in CHOP, 22 in Minneapolis, many more in NYC. Newborns, teenagers, nobodies safe. Where’s BLM, Biden, Sharpton, Obama?

Can you feel the love?

102 people shot?

How in the fuck do those likely 90% black lives not matter?

Is there some way to blame this on white people, even though the Mayor and Police Chief are black?

Wasn't the last Police Chief black?

Wasn't Obama's man Rahm E the last Mayor - he isn't possibly a racist, is he?

Isn't Kim Foxx (Red Foxx's granddaughter? - I liked Sanford and Son!) the fucking DA?

How are they not considered a bunch of losers for allowing 100 people to be shot in one weekend?

If an honorable Japanese guy were the Police Chief of Tokyo he would resign in disgrace if 100 people were shot in an entire year and they have 4 times as many people! (To be fair, they probably wouldn't blame it on white people, either!)

Maybe the victim could have been Obama’s son. Just like Travon Martin.

Default Is Mayor Jenny expecting a summer-of-1967 redux in more ways that one?

.

The Seattle mayor indeed said that current local events could turn into "the summer of love." (Note the implied reference to events that occurred in 1967).

Well, that may be true in more ways than one!

Of course, the original "summer of love" centered around Haight-Ashbury, where large crowds converged to enjoy music, free love, anti-war protests, and plenty of [redacted].

But is the mayor unaware of what else happened that very summer? (It's widely known as "the long hot summer of 1967.")

Which summer of 1967 social model do you prefer, Mayor Jenny?

(Maybe both!)

I think Obama is arrogant and his son would likely have been much worse.

As long as she has her police protection and likely expensive wine I doubt she cares...

Default Patience, patience, gentlemen! In due course, there will be plenty of opportunities for burning, looting, pillaging, and shooting!

have to admit 2020 is looking very to 1967.

Reactions

It is in the context of having been through "long, hot, summer" that in December, 1967, Miami police chief Walter E. Headley uttered the now-famous phrase "When the looting starts, the shooting starts" after which Frank Rizzo, Richard Daley and George Wallace also spoke out in favor of a hardline approach towards looters and rioters.[8]

A poll of Minnesotans asked respondents to gauge the perceived rela tionship between the riots and the Civil Rights Movement. When asked if there were a connection between the movement and riots, 49% A poll of Minnesotans asked respondents to gauge the perceived relationship between the riots and the Civil Rights Movement. When said there was, 38% disagreed. A full 65% thought the riots were planned, rather than just uncontrolled skirmishes. In another poll of Minnesotans, respondents were asked if the cause of the riots was racial discrimination or lawless hoodlums, 32% said racial discrimination while 49% said hoodlums. In a March 1968 Harris poll reported in the Washington Post, 37% of Americans agreed with the Kerner Commission’s report that the 1967 race riots were brought on mainly by inequalities; 49% disagreed. A majority of whites (53%) rejected the idea, with just 35% agreeing. In contrast, 58% of blacks supported it, and only 17% disagreed.[9]

In early July 1967, the Justice Department met with local media to ask "restraint in reporting".[10] In December 1967, a psychologist was asked about "deterrents" and told the New York Times
that the riots would continue.[11]
