But in today's litigious society I'm surprised there hasn't been huge awards against gun and condom manufacturers.

If memory serves me correctly Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D, Rhode Island) and one of the Democratic state attorney generals wanted to criminally prosecute scientists who published papers that were contrary to the consensus that carbon emissions cause global warming.

the only one that I know of took place in S. Korea where a korean scientist were arrested for data fraud over climate change....
