The unemployment numbers are BETTER than 49 years agoi
Sure the current unemployment numbers are better than the numbers reported 49 years ago for 1970. But if you consider those unemployment figures in the context of their respective times, today is much better.
Today we have low inflation, low interest rates, a small volunteer military and not much fighting. During the early 1970s, we had high inflation, high interest rates, and high gas prices. We also had a large military made up of teen agers conscripted right out of high school which kept them out of the job market.
No wonder unemployment was so low in 1970. Every high school graduate had been SKIMMED OUT OF THE LABOR FORCE AND INTO THE ARMY (or in Canada). Total armed forces at that time was well over 3 million. With the Viet Nam War essentially over for the Us by 1974, everyone who was not career military came home. No one could find work. By 1974 there was a recession with high unemployment.
That is how the current unemployment figures are better than back in 1970; we truely have full employment today.

Dammit, President Trump's dastardly plan is working.
For Gawd's sake, don't build a wall.

Fun with Labor Economics 101
No, no, no! You guys don't get it! We already know why unemployment is so low because AOC told us. It's because everyone is working two jobs!
Lemme try to illustrate for y'all who don't have a degree in economics from UMass like AOC...
Assume an economy with 100 people in the labor force and 96 job openings. If everyone takes only one job, then the jobless rate is 4%. Now imagine if every worker held two jobs. Then 48 people would be employed and the unemployment rate would be 52%!
So... unemployment is low because everyone in this shithole economy has to work two jobs!
Get it now?
Don't thank me for that lesson in real-life economics! Thank Sandy from the Bronx!

AOC went to Boston University for her econ degree.
Obviously, all you have to do is show up to get your degree.

at the risk of having to tweak a few of your statements...
not every high schooler got skimmed from the job market.. Donald Trump, Dick Cheney, George W. Bush and other famous Republicans were nursing severe disabilities that prevented them from fighting.. they managed to obtain high-paying jobs right away.. guess it's who you know, huh?
also, inflation was NOT high in 1970.. it became high in late 1973 AFTER the oil embargo.. the economy was in ruins in 1974, that's why Veterans could not get jobs. the high gas prices could occur again, and spiral the economy off course, Trump be damned.. remember when he bragged back in December, that oil was "$43 a barrel"? it is well over $60 today.. totally out of Trump's control.. just saying.. unemployment is very low, we are basically at full employment. but you didn't need to skew facts to make your case.

Is $61.34 a barrel “well over” $60 a barrel?
https://markets.businessinsider.com/...price?type=wti
The bottomline is, gas is fairly reasonable in the United States. I paid 2.79 a gallon today. Cheaper than it’s been during the Obama years.

George W was in the Texas Air National Guard, wasn't he?
So he served unlike sly old Bill.

he was, but GW rarely showed up, that is well documented. and I give Bill a pass, since he married Hilary at a young age, and that is worse than any form of combat for which he could have been conscripted!

Bush43 served two years on active duty without a blemish, and he received an Honorable Discharge for that service. He also received an Honorable Discharge for his service in the Air Force Reserve. The dim-retard charges that he was AWOL are unsubstantiated as he was never marked AWOL during those years. Finally, thousands of U.S. service personnel left the service early in the years following the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam. The armed forces were looking to reduce its manning and preferred to keep those who were looking to make a career of the service and let-go those who were not so inclined. Your notion that he "rarely showed up" is bogus.
