Default Sabres/Amerks

Amerks have always had there own owners. And contracted to NHL teams as a farm club. With half the team Amerks, other half belonging to the NHL team. Amerks had a long history with the Sabres. But at one point owner got in a cash bind with the soccer team. And wanted Sabres to field most of the team. The last owner of the Sabres did not like the last owner of of the Amerks anyways and so parted ways. Now it looks as the new owner of the Sabres wants to buy the Amerks from the current owner.

Even as I would like the owners in Canada keep the team. It would not be bad being owned by current owner of the Sabres.

Will the Sabres buy the Amerks? What about Sabres contract with Portland?

for nita go Lighting, I got a bet on them this round.

Offshore - I would love to see the Amerks and Sabres renew their working relationship.

But I will also second your message to NITA - Go Tampa Bay!!

When the Sabres had a working relationship most recently, they had supplied half the team while the Florida Panthers supplied the other half of the team. Sabres management wanted an arrangement that would have them be the sole suppliers of talent, which is why they made an agreement with Portland for the last few years.

That is true jymie. But before the Panthers the Amerks use to own half and the Sabres the other half of the players. Amerks got to a point it could not pay its players and Sabres would not supply a whole team unless it owned the team. And the last owner of Sabres a guy at the time from Rochester till he gave up on NY and moved to FL hated the majority owner of the Amerks. Amerks became a team where it did not own any players in a mix as you stated till the Sabres left. Forcing all the owners of the Amerks to sell most of it. The guy that owned most of it gone. In came a guy from Canada with a group of others to buy the team to run it as it once was, but with the Panthers.

But now with the selling of the Sabres to its new owner. And the other half of we hate each other from the Amerks long gone. The majority owner and group from Canada, and the few in Rochester that still have a small part. Are talking to the current Sabers owner. Now he started the talks. But it is not known if buying some or all out. But speculation is he or his Sabres will become the sole owner of the Amerks.

Seeing how this guy from PA has acted as becoming the owner of the Sabres. Wanting the Amerks is no surprise. Going for it all. As it was when he and his wife where fans of both and dating.

FYI, the current Sabres wife is a Rochestarian. The current Amerks owners are. IMHO, looking for an excuse to either dump or move the Amerks. So this could be a blessing for Rochester fans. Not to mention the obvious incrase in a fan base for both teams. Sabres fans can (and did) come to Rochester and see the up and coming players and Rochester fans can go to Buffalo to see their favorite move up to the pros.

Yup that is all true. And the two of them are more than owners. Both are hockey fans. And the Amerks have lost fan base after all this BS. Thomas Golisano was good for Sabres. But part of the death of Amerks. I see this guy could be great for both. Time will tell. Thomas Golisano was not a fan, but a good business man that put the Sabres back in the black ink. Yet helped Amerks go into the red more as he hated the majority owner. He was not a bad guy, just bit into more than he could chew with the other teams, mostly the soccer team.

I heard a rumor last week current Sabres owner was going to buy Amerks, they announced it on TV this am there is tentative agreement. I hope it goes through, it used to be fun watching young Sabres to be play here and then some of the then current Sabres coming off injury or a cold spell play here! Since the current arrangement I haven't seen anAmerks game that will hopefully change this fall!!! :-)

The Amerks have lost fan base because they have stunk. All the credit to the current owner, Styres, he got us to the playoffs once before we crept back to the basement. The Sabres kind of gave up on the Amerks the last couple of years of arrangement because Donner was a crook. They have done well with Providence and with this new owner I think it could be great to get back with them. It is a lot better to see the guy you watched for $15 last week playing on MSG in a Sabres sweater and be able to cheer for him, as opposed to seeing him in a Panther sweater if you even watch the Panthers.

Gotta go with Boston or Vancouver, the cup has no business in Florida or San Jose. It doesn't do well in the heat and it has spent too much time there in the last couple of years.

He was either a crook or inept. He ran all of the two or three (not sure he had anything to do with Rhino's) into the dirt.

Golisano had it in for him with hockey. He ran the Rhino's from the get go and into the new stadium where politics not him killed it. Placement of that stadium was not where he wanted. That was Gantt. Its easy to be inept when you are getting it stuck up your ass by many. With much more power than you.

edit: lets agree to not agree on the BS back ground. What do you think of this guy looking to buy Amerks. I think he is the ticket to get past the BS background crap. And will be good for hockey in Rochester.

The purchase of the Amerks by Pagolio( not sure how to spell it) is good for not only the Sabres but the Amerks as well the. The team in Portland the last three years was competitive and made the playoffs which is a lot more said then what the Amerks have done. We all know that winning puts fans in the seats, Buffalo is loaded with young talent in Portland and it shows in the stands and the standings. We can only hope that this will continue but knowing one of the teams scouts on a semi personal level this will continue. A small market team like Buffalo has to develop young talent and over the past 10 years it has showed. We have no cups as of yet but give it time they will come with this new owner, he is committed to Bufflao and will do the same for Rochester. BUFFALO wins the cup within next three years i would but money on that one. GO SABRES

Agreed OSD, I missed all the meeting so I guess I don't really know what went on. I think the new guys is a real hockey guy and he has solid connections to the area. Given his interest in the Amerks I think he knows that a regional approach works better. He knows how much it will help both teams to be linked, it's such a natural connection. I think we could be in for much better hockey days ahead. I think the enthusiasm will help early attendance next year and hopefully they will win early and keep the enthusiasm high enough to overcome the suburban fear of downtown

In this television image, a woman flashes her breasts as San Jose Sharks player Ben Eager serves a penalty during the playoff game between the Sharks and the Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver, Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

Then again lets go to Vancouver

a what where we talking about? errr

edit: http://www.wham1180.com/pages/johnditullio.html to see video. If fans will go that far to distract players. Vancouver for the cup!!! sorry nita. But the guy did not leave the box as soon as could have, giving Vancouver extra time up a man. And she was long gone when his time was up.

Vancouver player 33.
The woman was wearing a Henrik Sedin jersey, but the Swedish superstar swears he doesn't know her.
"It wasn't my wife, I'll tell you that," he told reporters.
