Default Astros player blames greedy Rangers

The Texas Rangers refused to change the schedule and have an Astros home
series and Rangers home series switched, so they could be played this week.

Astros player blames greedy Rangers baseball team for refusing the switch.

Hey bro - how much are you getting paid this year to play this game ?

Doesn't matter, VM. The Rangers owner refused to change the date because it would cause his team to play too many road games in a row. Huh? Who cares? They have no chance at anything other than a longer off-season than alot of other teams.
And, this was the very same guy who nixed the deal of the Astros getting Yu just a few short weeks ago!

The decision to "not trade the two series" was not made by the Rangers' ownership, bbkid....it was made by Texas' General Manager, Jon Daniels. And "greed" had nothing to do with the final decision either...contrary to what others might believe. It was a "by the book" decision that in the long run gave the Rangers the best possible chance for post-season play this season.

Daniels offered, after speaking with Astros prez, Reid Ryan, to have this week's Texas / Houston 3-game series moved to Arlington (the weather's been terrific these past few days in the metro-plex, btw....no chance of any of these games being rained out as MLB feared might occur). Houston would still have been the home team....and all gate, parking, concessions, etc would've been handled accordingly as if these were played

While Astros fans may "not care" if the Rangers would've ended up playing 4 consecutive road series had they agreed to switch the home-and-home series, Daniels still had to make a call that would help his team regardless (since the possibility of making the playoffs...as the second Wild Card team remained alive). After all....he works for the Texas Rangers...not the Astros. And to say they have "no chance" at this date is simply untrue. If the possibility for post-season play is alive, you fight for every advantage possible to win games remaining on your schedule until the W-L ledger says otherwise.

Reid Ryan decided to make this a public issue and air his grievance for all....that's on him and he's the one you can look at for making that decision. Playing in front of 6,000+ fans in Tampa, Florida (versus 25-30 K in Arlington...with many Astros fans in attendance, at that) is on him. Ryan's axe-to-grind with Jon Daniels is one that is personal....and goes back to the days when Nolan was still the team's President & CEO (and when Daniels was made team President of Baseball Operations spring of 2013). Anyways......

Had these been the only three games remaining between the two teams on the schedule (ie: no series to be played in Arlington left on the calendar in Sept) what would've been the logical choice then for Reid to propose....to still move this week's series to Tampa....or St Louis...?

Hey Becot, what was Reid Ryan supposed to say in response to media and fans? He chose to make it a public issue is top ten dumbest things I have seen written in my life.

Ryan didn't have to say diddly squat to the media. And as far as fans go, seriously...we are talkin' about the Astros, right, 2dogsfuckin'?

Anyways......once conversations with Daniels had concluded, he could have easily explained (to the media and both of Houston's fans) that this everything had been worked out and this week's games would be moved to Arlington. Period.

The facts were pretty simple.....the Tues-Thu series scheduled this week in Houston was not gonna be possible due to the catastrophe that was Harvey. Both GM's agreed that the series would be moved to Arlington and the Astros would be the Home Team. End of story.

The end-of-Sept series (scheduled in Arlington) had nothing to do with this week's series. It didn't. Ryan tried to negotiate and Daniels was uninterested in switching series. The Top Ten Dumb belongs to your team's prez, jackwagon.....airing this out in public (to make Daniels and the Rangers out as the bad guys) is on him.

Beltre's 38 years old and has had a history of hammy issues during his Ranger career...while we'll miss his glove and bat, we've learned to accept this is how it is with an aging player. So take your karma and stick it in your ear.

As far as ducks go.....
