You can still work ... just keep your ankle in its cast/boot and elevated.

I broke my ankle 6 years ago and have never fully recovered. My Orthopedic says it's that kind of injury. Hopefully, yours isn't as bad as mine was...

Default Some knowledgeable advice

When you get the cast off, the Doc is going to recommend physical therapy of some type even it's just you doing it alone.

I strongly recommend you do what he says. You'll likely have some degree of permanent broken blood vessels in the area of the break. Doing the physical therapy will keep that to a minimum and increase your long term health of the ankle.

Good thing you didn't break a tit !

I did PT for over 6 months afterwards and then went back about a year later for another 2.

One other thing to watch is your diet. I didn't change how I was eating and I gained about 40 pounds over the cast/PT timeframe.

That is a smart tip about not gaining weight during and after recovery. The more a person weighs the more extra pressure is on feet and ankles making it more difficult to heal and might compromise long term results.

Do what the doc and PTs tell you.

A couple of things about PTs:

PTs cannot count. Do your own counting,
When a patient screams or cries, PTs hear little children laughing and giggling.

Got hit by a truck. Broke my ankle in 6 places. Boot for 6 weeks. Other injuries on top of that. Took me out of the hobby for a looooong time. Hell, took me out of life for a long time.

Good luck on recovery. Take it easy!!!
