Default Lady Gaga and the Super Bowl

Unless something slipped by me .....she behaved .

She wasn't as inspirational as she was when she sang the national anthem last year, She wore cooter cutters and showed a little belly but overall a good performance.

Speaking of last year....

i'm just glad she didn't show up wearing a "meat Dress" or looking like an extra on "The Walking Dead" bahhaa

while i wouldn't call her an outright babe, she's more than attractive enough when she doesn't try to "experiment" with her looks

and no political statements a nice decision

I just watched it, it was a pretty good show, if you like that sort of show.

But then, I seriously doubt the planners of the Supet Bowl Half Time Show are catering to 70 year old white guys.

Super Bowl
Odds: NE-3

O/U: 57.5
Stadium: NRG Stadium
Shop Gear

New England
14-21st AFC East

34

Atlanta
11-51st NFC South

i'm ok with this outcome

the OT rules changes are good. they recognize the long kicker in the NFL where most teams have a guy that can hit one from 50+. So by changing it to where the receiving team scores a TD (obviously harder to defend that a FG) they WIN. if not them the other team gets it's shot, any score wins.

Kudos to Gaga for a great show free of politics.

But I have to disagree with the overtime rules - at least in the playoffs.

They should play a shortened period - like 10 minutes. That way both teams can count on a couple of possessions, regardless of whether the other teams scores first.

Nope. if u want to account for the long FG to win as a sudden death score then a full 15 m quarter is the right thing to play. if both teams survives the first sudden death OT then they play another 15 quarter until someone scores.

I don't like the NFL's OT rules. what they did wasn't fair to the other team. they should get a chance for a counter play to tie it up. both should play a full quarter in OT.

how about the idea of using field goals in a kicker shoot out. maybe for use in 2nd OT.

at least college OT rules are fairer.

YUep it still comes down to the team winning the coin flip has the best chance.
Maybe just flip a coin and then it is done. Just as fair to one team as the other.
At least they have a 50-50 shot at winning. There should be an equal chance of winning for either team.
What it comes down to is the winning teams offense plays the losing teams defense so you only get to test half of each teams abilities.

Gaga was entertaining with no extracurricular bullshit. A one possession OT in the Super Bowl is bullshit. Atlanta's D was gassed but at least give them a chance to tie or win with a 2pt conversion.

this game should have been a blow out by the new england patriots over the atlanta falcons.

mistakes are not trivial things.

still brady got his 5th super bowl. how cool is that?

Dilbert, I hate to be crass or blunt (however) all three of your suggested points are vying for "Which is more absurd than the previous One?"

Both teams play an extra FULL quarter of OT...?...you really think those tricked up collegiate OT rules are fairer (than the NFL's version)...? (I'm guessing you didn't sit through that Arkansas / Ole Miss SEVEN overtimes game in 2001, hmmm?)

Just for grins, wasn't it the legendary Harry Callahan who once mused "What's fair got to do with it???"
Well, the Answer is simple: "Absolutely Nothing."

Here's the deal....you get FOUR full quarters of regulation play to get a Winner and a Loser figured out. Now if you're incapable of getting it settled over that span of time, Overtime's intention isn't to be fair....it's to bring the game to an efficient conclusion. And that conclusion can (and should be) decided on any play after the coin flip....even on the opening kick of OT.

In addition, (to address the fair thing one final time) Atlanta still could've have won last night's contest in OT without the benefit of winning the coin toss and first possession of the ball....a safety, a strip-fumble-and-score....or force a 3 and out and score via their Special Teams with either a punt return or a blocked FG attempt and TD return.

Simply put, the Falcons defense was no longer effective (an inadvertent Patriots strategy by virtue of falling behind that eventually paid off for them) in both the 4th Q and OT. In a nutshell...that's football, fair or not.
