That is what you get when the so called prestigious award is given out to someone who has basically done nothing but be a loyal lackey.
Of course, The Veep is in good Company. His boss got the Nobel Peace Prize for "just showing up" too.

What did Biden do to deserve the medal? I do not recall other presidents giving the veeps awards.

That's true Joe was always one bullet away from becoming president. So to show gratitude Obama straps him with this gaudy award which looks like a piece of cheap costume jewelry. Anyway Joe is a happy camper he fulfilled his purpose. It's nice to know both of these idiots are finally out of our hair. I am ready for some new entertainment.

BO past out The Medal of Freedom to all his celeb friends too.
Cicely Tyson, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Robert Redford, Tom Hanks, Lorne Michaels, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Robert De Niro, and Ellen DeGeneres. Vin Scully got one too, for calling a lot of baseball games.

This is no different than Hollywood's award shows: let's get together, give each other awards that mean entirely nothing outside our own circle, and then make a big deal of it to the world so we can get airtime and sell advertisements to sell crap to people who believe the award actually means something.
Biden has done nothing that would merit this recognition and few on either side of the aisle would argue this. Obama did it simply because he could.
