The Macy's is still open and will remain as the site anchor.
Here's the game plan for the redevelopment:

Default Propaganda

[QUOTE=DallasRain;1058870299][SIZE=4][B]http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...nsas-City.html

propaganda
|ˌpräpəˈɡandə|
noun
1 chiefly derogatory information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view: he was charged with distributing enemy propaganda.
• the dissemination of propaganda as a political strategy: the party's leaders believed that a long period of education and propaganda would be necessary.

So what has been missed?

The use of the word "abandoned" is totally inappropriate. The use of the headline "Autopsy of America: Death of a nation" is totally inappropriate. By their own press it is admitted that this center operated successfully for 40 years, and closed only (The word only was added after edit for my own propaganda on how this reads. Note the impact of only.) 2 years ago in 2014.

Just the pictures alone show that some of the work that has already been done. Note the escalators being disassembled. This center has not he been abandoned. This is a work in progress.

Before the building comes down, there is a lot of work to be done taking it apart. If someone thinks that you just call a wrecking crew and give them everything to take it down, you are mistaken. There is a lot of equipment that can, and will, be used again, and a lot of items that can be sold for scrap. The used electrical wire by itself can be help pay for much of the pre wrecking work.

This is a work in progress. The rest will happen with time.

Moving crews in and out of a building, as needed, during when a disassemble can be a huge cost savings over trying to do everything at once. There is a lot of work, and planning, needed to get a building ready to be taken down.

The question to ask is: who are these people who categorize this as: "Autopsy of America: Death of a nation".

Pure propaganda.

Geez JR,
The demo crew knows how to take bldgs apart very quickly. Yes a demo job, cause the salvage part is finished.
The rest is trash. Except for I-beams, and perhaps some large electric parts, the rest of the mall, except Macy's, will all go to a dump, cause time is money.
And it is a nightmare inside. Been there.

Btw it only took about a week to demo the Days Inn hotel near wof. And that only took a few machines.

It is interesting.
Dead building to be reincarnated.
There was a movie made there a while back when it was half empty.
And the Macy's keeps ringing up sales.

Default Abandoned? Creepy?

Gee, Mr. Carpenter.

You have been there. So, you have also told us that you are in the hotel security business. I accept that and would have to conclude that you are involved with other types of security.

My main point is that the property is not abandoned: to say so is manipulation and propaganda.

How fast is comes down, or does not come down is not the issue.

So far, I have rehabbed three buildings, and it is a lot of work. I have learned that one has to work with guys that he treats right and can trust. For the fourth and current building I have worked with a few close guys for 2 years. 2 years? Because it is cheaper to work with a small crew. They earn a steady income and can do the job without much input from engineers, architects or anyone else. They do their jobs without a lot of overhead.

Sorry, I spoke about scrap. I was just thinking about the money we have collected by taking the so called junk to the scrap yard. Junk, is something else. The current job has taken out tons of junk (that is of no use, or value) so that the guys can get down to the bare building and begin to rewire the thing.

Large developers have to answer to a lot of people, create plans, secure funding, work with the city and the unions. You are right: they usually have to move on a much faster schedule.

I don't think it is abandoned.

"Autopsy of America: Death of a nation"; really, give us a break!
Don't you think that Donald will rebuild this nation? But then we can all have fun with a political question.
