I used to work for Best Buy, they charge an arm and a leg for their services. Sometimes asking for other body organs as well! They almost charged me $30.00 just to put a "T" button that popped out of my laptop! But I wore a low cut shirt when I went there!

depending on your network issues ... i wouldn;t go there. if you are on the Northshore - pm me and i could advise you. perhaps even fix it. not much on network techs outside my office ... they move like flies to turds.

They charge 240 dollars when you computer gets a virus......but generally they never fix anything other than ipods which they mail to another.......they just erase everything and start you on factory settings consistently.
I wouldnt use geek squad for computer issues, just electronics like ipods. They will usually replace ipods if they need repair more than quite a few times a year.

Awww........... how sweet, Dil! If you are having problems with your router, you may have to contact the maker. Unless you have a router thru like Charter or another provider like that.

Dibert you may want to check the software settings to see if the router is "broadcasting". Do you know how to login to the router settings menu?
If not you can go to manufacturers website eg. linksys cisco for router manual

wiley, I would if I could. I tried to pull up the routers config page, it would not come up. However, the router was reset, iin an attempt re-connect to the router. It didn't work. so the broadcast ID is prolly switched to its default state, off.
its the same with the modem, unfortunately, the config page cannot be pulled up in a VPN session which is I'm currently in hopefully temporarily.

Geek Squad only requires their techs to have the bare minimum in certifications-- and they don't require them to have any actual working experience. If you are having networking issues-- know that they are only A+ and Net+ certified, and chances are they seldom, if ever, do much work when it comes to networking.

dilbert its most likely your network adapter in your puter. need to reset it.also resetting your wireless router cant hurt, use the rest button on the back of the router, hold it in 10 seconds then release.
If you are a bit pc friendly, go to dos prompt, type ipconfig release and hit enter, then type ipconfig renew and hit enter then try to connect to your router.

Try posting your problem in the software forum on http://forums.majorgeeks.com. They have some good people that can help you free of charge. Assuming you have some other way of reaching the net, that is.
