I'd like to take a second to say IN YOUR FACE!
So about 6 months ago my mother told me to take all my rainy day funds and go put all of it into silver.. Right then. I had quite a bit stashed for rainy days since they seemed to happen so often. I always discuss investments with everyone I can find that will talk to me. I got nothing but negitive "that's a ridiculus investment. You'll never make even 20% over the amount of time it'll be actual precious metals." Rather short and mean too, like I was too ignorant to know what I was talking about.
OK Ready... I listened to my mother. <-shock
I bought when silver was 18 bucks. I'm 50 cents away from doubling my money as of this morning you crack pots.
And ALL the penny stocks we played with over just the last 6 months that everyone said was crap... We've made just about 1500% (Did I say this was 6 months.)
So for everyone that had no idea this was going on (and that's about 99% of you) I am the fucking bomb right now. And to everyone that was such a jackass when I just came for advice... IN YOUR FACE!!

So what you are saying is "freebies this week only"?
Glad to see your investment paid off.

Gee Softplace you kinda sound like Charlie Sheen...lol. Congrats on your good fortune!
So now what do you do? Hold, Sell, take some profits? What are the speculative stocks you recommend? Everyone should have some gold (or silver) in their portfolio and there's nothing wrong with a 20 % return. Precious metals and energy are hot right now.

Amen to profit taking. If you get back your original stake then anything else is profit.
Being too greedy is how most paper "gains" are turned into actual losses.

Historically gold trades for 16 times that of silver. If that were true right this moment silver would be over 85$ an oz.
Since I posted this thread it's gone up a dollar. Some of you providers might think about hopping this train. I've now doubled my money plus 50 cents (that double plus 50 for each coin.) I'm just having the best time watching my money grow and Ive done nothing but watch the numbers.

Congratulations SPTL. If you haven't yet banked any of that, your hardest decision is yet to come. Because, if you haven't banked any of that, your increase is only on paper. Sooo, you'll need to figure out when and how much to cash in now and how much you are going to "let it ride". That's the hard part.
If you've already figured that out, then you are way ahead of most. Good luck.

I'm taking half the profit and reinvesting in other things. So basically this is the beginning of my personal portfolio. If I mirror my dad, I should do pretty well. I only got into silver to put the paper money somewhere safe until I decided what to do with it.
I get the rule of "you only lock in a profit or loss when you sell." That is something that does screw most people. You are very correct. Any short term options anyone has some insight on? Short term up to 3 months.

so true, I use to play hog commodities with a very good broker in Chicago. I gave him $2000 and every month he would make me $2000, then I would pulled out $6000 each quarter to pay my taxes. Well he started doing extremely well and he got me up to $25000 on 9-10-01. I ended up having to send him $5000 to cover my losses

Beauty and brains. You have always proven that. Your mother is a wise lady. Keep it up, young lady. You are far ahead of the game.

I double my money every day.
If I start with $500.00 in the morning I fold it in half and stick it in my pocket and I have double it, The problem I have is though out the day I spend some money so when I get home I have very little left.
