Donald Trump suggested at a rally Friday that Hillary Clinton’s bodyguards should stop protecting her because of her views on gun control.

“She’s very much against the Second Amendment,” Trump said in Miami. “She wants to destroy your Second Amendment. Guns, guns, guns, right? I think what we should do is, she goes around with armed bodyguards like you have never seen before. I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons, they should disarm. I think they should disarm immediately.”

“Take their guns away,” he continued. “She doesn’t want guns. Let’s see what happens to her. Take their guns away, OK, it would be very dangerous.”

It’s not the first time Trump has made an irresponsible joke about violence toward his Democratic opponent. In August, he suggested “Second Amendment people” could assassinate Clinton if she is elected and appoints justices to the Supreme Court.

“If she gets to pick her judges ― nothing you can do, folks,” Trump said in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Aug. 9. “Although, the Second Amendment people. Maybe there is. I don’t know.”

And in January, he challenged Clinton to disarm her bodyguards herself to prove that guns don’t increase safety:

Nowhere has Hilary advocated taking away anyone's guns it's impossible with the Constitution in place. No President has that power to change the constitution and even after 8 years these mentally ill folks are still screaming that Obama is trying to take their guns. It's no longer funny either these folks are seriously mentally ill or just pure devil worshipers which I guess would also make them mentally ill.

Given this Nation's history of assassinations and assassination attempts when will Republican leadership finally step up and say enough is enough.
