The lingering smell of soap is fine for me. I have a pretty sensitive nose and prefer no cologne.
Did ya read that Boardman? The date just keeps getting cheaper and cheaper for you.

NEVER Giorgio by Armani. Too overpowering.
1. Opium
2. Cinnabar
3. Chanel No. 5
4. Tabu

I'm going way back with this one but it will always be a favorite- Fahrenheit by Christian Dior.
I am also crazy about Dolce and Gabbana, the original one.
I like the ones that are soft and warm. I can't stand the strong, loud stuff like most of the ones by Calvin Klein. They make my head hurt.

More Subtle
Personally, I think a fragrance that is more subtle is more unforgettable.
The smell of new car mixed with the smell of new money is always a hit with the ladies.
But of course, that presupposes that she even has a keen sense of smell to begin with and can pick up on the super subtle fragrance you are putting out.
Sometimes their noses are not working right because of other (sniff) issues.

Which Creed I've tried 3 that I'll mention, Green Irish Tweed, Imperial Millesime, and Himalaya. I liked GIT the best but I cant hang with it, I have VERY sensitive skin and it didn't like me. Bad ass manly scent though. Himalaya is a really nice aqua style sent, I like it for day wear. It actually last on my skin which is saying something. Imperial is a lemon / iris scent with a bit of musk as a basenote, I can see it being well liked but it didn't do anything for me.
Other niche frags, Montale, I really like Grayland, which is similar to Gucci Pour Homme. I like Grayland better on my skin and it last much longer on me too. YMMV they are VERY similar, and Gucci cost about half as much. Montale Red Vetyver is a winner for me too.
Amouage Memoir Man, it has so much going on I won't even try to explain it but I like it for winter/night wear. Amouage Dia Man is something I on the fence about.
I like Terre D' Hermes both the EDT and EDP, ohh that burnt orange.
I'm checking out Czech & Speake Cuba now.

this kinda thing is so subjective.. cause no two people will feel the same about a particular scent.
thing is though i find that most people tend to wear WAY too much of a particular fragrance.
its like they marinate themselves in it.
perfumes and colognes are ment to entice someone to you.. not make them want to jam their finger in their belly button after working in the yard for 12 hours them ram it up their nostril just to combat the funk of ode de drakkar that someone soaked in for the last 36 hours..

What people don't know is that there is a cologne or perfume for the evening or for the day and different scents for different times of the year... one for the fall, summer, winter or spring.
Yes some people were to much of the wrong cologne or perfume they get less sensitive to the fragrance and tend to over do it.
