Agree with that also. The OP really upset me because I know good people who fought in VN who I consider LWWs. They opposed VN but went when drafted. One--a good friend from HS, dies there. Others came back very damaged goods, but with a fistful of medals they EARNED and were exceedingly proud to wear as a remembrance of their comrades who weren't alive to wear ones they would likely have gotten had they lived.
One guy in particular, a conscientious objector who could have avoided VN all together (his family had a lot of pull and got him a CO exemption) nonetheless volunteered as a medic. He went special ops and was on LRRP missions over there. Other vets who served with him described him as the bravest man they ever met, and I will take their word for it. More than one said he personally saved their life. He was wounded several times, lost an eye and was finally sent home.
He was a flaming liberal who would likely be left of Bernie Sanders. I disagreed with most his politics, but respected the man as a real American hero. He died last year, finally putting to sleep the daemons that haunted him all those years.
Yes, I may have over reacted to the OP, but when the broad opening salvo tarred people like that as anti=American just because of their left/right political leanings I was indeed very angry.
But to the point "no one on the RIGHT would do this" (and I am not saying they did) I disagree--Timothy McVea is the type that would. Sitting and talking with some of the militia types in the Kingman, AZ area I feel certain they might as well. My point is, they are not the "typical" conservatives and should not be held up as such. As to what I am--I on average I am a centrist who is slightly right of center on fiscal policy, slightly left of center--or slightly libertarian--on social issues.

Well, McVeigh wasn't a righty. He did have some of the same slogans but where he was living prior to OKC was a socialist mecca though they didn't say that. He just hated the US and the government to an extreme.
