Default paranoia?

Does anyone ever get paranoid going to the hotel? Nit for LE reasons but maybe that someone sees you pulling into there and asks you why or passes info onto someone that they saw you there?

Certain hotels I know what I can say about picking up a client or coworker from out of town. Others don't necessarily fit the hotels that fit that bill.

Curiosity killed the cat....

I'm a computer repair technician. I take my laptop and repair kit with me to visits, unless it is to a known private incall. I have had to tell a couple inquisitive individuals that I am there to repair a clients computer. I haven't had anyone stop me yet.

I always craft my alibi to CMA. When I know I am going to someplace that I might be recognized, I start talking a few days ahead of time why I am out and why I will be at such and such a place. Maybe to take a seminar or for a sales meeting or to meet a buddy there for drinks. I have had two times in the past someone say to my SO, hey, I saw your husband at the ... and she said "yeah I know, he had a meeting there that night." Works like a charm.

Agreed... nothing wrong with being a little paranoid when going to hotels. Even my self get a little nervous. Nothing has ever happened, and no one has ever said anything to me but still.

I think its human nature to be a little paranoid. After all, we know why we are there

Smart idea!! Could make the computer repair job a little more exciting getting the girl to play along too.

Don't talk to anyone and if someone asks what room number you are going to don't tell them, sounds like common sense right? It's not and nervous paranoid guys cave in all the time creating a possible problem.

Have something to say such as the super genetically enhanced soldier does or act in a hurry and say so "Sorry in a hurry thanks for the help I know where I am at!"

I have always wondered about family or friends wondering though, I personally have my deal worked out and it would be cool but for a guy wandering in during his lunch hour . . .

I handle it a lot like flyboy but a little more after the fact in explaining NY day that I had to go here to meet a client or coworker on a project. Fortunately its not uncommon to have hotels be involved or at least tied into the story.

Like Chloe said common sense goes a long way.

Protective measures and in layers...I wear My foil suit as to create glare as well as to obscure form and shape...My "Cat in the Hat" stove Pipe hat with a miners LED light is used as a dual tactic...one it makes my head look larger implying I have a larger brain and mental powers to block all incoming empathic attempts...If the large brain tactic did not work the LED temporarily blinds them and I can escape into a darkened area were their eyes need to adjust to then get a real identifying look...by then "poof" I've vanished...And my final layer is my X-ray vision sunglasses ordered directly from the back page of 1979's spiderman number 238...If they get through the first two layers of defenses they can identify the fact that I'm wearing the x-ray glasses...That ensures the mind game tactic that I now can see them naked and in their panic they scramble for cover as to avoid my prying gaze and again gives me ample time for escape...

And after all these counter measures is the final coup de gras in that no one would ever be able to complete a composite sketch of such a ridiculous outfit that I would once again remain undetected and safe to Hobby in the shadows of peace....Mu Ha ha ha ha...
