Default Jazz thread!

Anybody here like jazz?

I'm not into a lot of traditional jazz. I get into some of Coltrane, Munk, Miles Davis, Winton Marsalis, but that's about it. Mostly contemporary jazz or fusion is my taste.

I'll post a few of my favorite artists and you can post yours.

Esperanza Spalding

George Duke
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9gz_HwTOho (a lil' fusion joint)

Pat Metheny (dude's music is a lil' weird but good)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApI-zA6suXE

Michael Franks

There are many more, these are just a few. Let's get it goin'!

Dude.... Love Diana Krall.... Always head downtown to Sambuca for drinks, cigars and jazz when in town.... Nice place to relax and scope out the local talent....

Great choices bruh! Definitely into contemporary jazz. Especially stuff released in the 70s, 80s, and 90s before everything got watered down to smooth jazz. I also accept the traditional because that's where it basically comes from.

I think Esperanza is sexy as hell with that big-ass upright bass that's bigger than her. And she can play the hell out of it too!!

I have everything listed by everyone on here. Esperanza is beautiful and a sharp young lady in person. I have met her several times when she was still in College at berklee college of music. Good friend of mines son use to date her. She is on the Faculty there and does some great music.

ICM if you looking for something get at me....................lol

You have to check out Ben Webster if you like tenor sax and 50's jazz. IMHO the best ballad player of all time.

Man, I saw the sexiest thing a few weeks back. I went to a Christmas party a friend of mine was having for his job. There was a live band playing and they had a female saxophone player. She was a tall, dark chocolate lady that happened to be fine as hell. She looked damn good blowin' on that horn. LOL
No pun intended.

A long long long time ago before the Target off Sawyer (I think) was built, a friend and I would drive over to The Big Fun Phone and quietly drink beer and share a smoke. I recall one night the artist was working in his studio listening to Thelonius Monk, my friend and I just sat on the hood of his car listening to the music for about an hour and wondering how high you have to be to make giant sculptures of presidents' heads and a giant old timey telephone with spectacles... good times!
