The H1B is a scam to replace American workers with cheap foreigners. It is NOT a program to bring into the country job skills that Americans do not have. We HAVE all of these job skills. We just don't do it cheaply enough for the CEOs.

Eliminate the program in its entirety. Or put a $100K annual tax paid to the federal government on EVERY job in the H1B visa program.

That way the companies can't replace an American with a foreigner unless the American costs at least $100K MORE per year that the foreigner.

Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that reduction of overhead by business is what drives their support for the policy. But, there is also a plausible argument that the best talent for certain types of employment needs comes from overseas.

Not for engineering and science it doesn't. We have never had trouble producing talent in that regard.

And, I might add, the Disney workers, like the Cal Edison workers were training their replacements to do the SAME job the American worker was already doing. So, it's not like the guys from India were better skilled. They were just cheaper.

A large percentage of these H1B visa jobs are held by an Indian company, Tata Consulting Services, that operates a treadmill of Indian engineers into the US. Once one guys visa expires, another Indian comes in to take his place.

I understand why India love the arrangement. What I don't get is why we tolerate it.

The US company pockets the wage savings.

But the US must now support the now-unemployed American - or gets less tax revenues from his typically lower paying job.

So, they privatize the profits and socialize the losses.

Fuck that.

Put a $100K annual fee on every H1B visa. Then we will see which of those jobs actually cannot be filled by an American.
