Given the opportunity to explore other planets would you take a chance with a one-way ticket to another world?

Mars is up for grabs... Link

Me personally, if it was offered I'd seriously consider it.

It depends on the world. Mars? No thanks. No breathable atmosphere, so cold the water in your cells will crystallize, no food. Pandora? Now you're talking!

A thousand years from now I’d love to be on the frontier. Now, on a one-way ticket to a nowhere world– no way I’d never do it. I guess the difference is choices after deploying

That's why I would only consider it

The question then becomes would a liberal, big government, "don't teach me how to fish, just gimme the damned fish" person be willing to go somewhere they would have to work to survive?

Uh, its not really the frontier once they have a 5 star hotel there.

What, and leave their bunkers in the woods that protect them from the 'man'? The right wing nut jobs are so scared of government and progress, they'd jump if they saw their shadow.

A thousand years from now I'd love to be anywhere!

I don't suppose anybody can say with absolute certainty but I think I'd be willing to give it a go! Going my own way...doing my own thing...has never really bothered me. But, I suppose this proposition would test my belief in that value system on a whole new level. A lot harder to change your mind on this one!!

What I found annoying/disturbing about the article was the position of the organizers that it HAS to be a one-way colonization mission because it's cost prohibitive to bring them back! Even then, they have to go hat-in-hand begging for funding. Huh???!!!

All of the ridiculous things we spend money on as a society...as a species....and we can't figure out how afford to make this a round-trip ticket? Pathetic...

If it gets me away from people who think everything has to be turned into a political debate then please do sign me up.

Cheers,
Mazo.
