Default Bulgogi!

Do anyone know of a restaurant in San Antonio that has some delicious Bulgogi! I am craving this Vietnamese dish. There was one restaurant across from Kelly AFB that served this dish several years ago.

A simple Google search on [bulgogi "San Antonio"] will produce a number of options.

It is Korean. It is thin slices of beef marinated in a sauce and then grilled. I have enjoyed it once in a while myself over the years. The place I went to was Go Hyang Jib Korean BBQ in Rittiman road near IH 35.

Ilsong Garden is pretty good. It's hidden behind the Denny's inside 410 on Blanco. I've also heard good thing about Seoul Garden. It's somewhere on Harry Wurzbach.

I personally prefer the Koreana House off of Harry Wurzbach at either Rittamin or Eisenhower.

Bulgogi - beef

Teygogi - pork

Kagogi - dog. Not available to Miguks.

There use to be a korean restaurant almost all the way down Harry Wurzbach practically at the gate of Ft Sam, kind of next door to John the Greek's place. That was hands down the best in SA.

Went one time and turned the car around near the back door the was a young pup on a shortrope waiting for dinner. Definitely authentic Korean food.

Sorry I don't remember the name of the restaurant but there's a place off 410 and marbach. It's great reminds me of my days stationed in Korea.

I also heard that Sapporo off of Hausman Rd has some good Bulgogi as well.

Awe man Korea one of the only few places where you can rent the girl for the week end and have your uniforms pressed and boots polished by Sunday morning. Lol saw a good cook book I believe the title was 26 ways to wok your dog

Ha! I always thought it was a Filipino dish. I first ate that dish outside of a place called "The Fire Empire" in Angeles City PI, outside of Clark AFB in the early 70's. It was an R&R stopover. Learn something new everyday.

It is the Korean main beef dish along with Kal-bee which has a slightly different seasoning and Kal-bee is served with the bone in. Places in SA to sit down and eat Bul-go-gi are Koreana on Harry Wurzbach..Go Hyang Jib on Rittiman..Il song at Blanco & 410 (but you have to listen to the owner brag about her food)and Chongs by Lackland AFB. The best IMHO is called Sushi Express in the Stone Oak area-I know Japanese name but owed and operated by Koreans and actually cooked by them!! Not Mexicans trained to cook their food!! Anyway all pretty decent but nothing like the Korean food you find in Houston...

I went to Ilsong just a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't as good as I remembered from a few years ago.

Koreana was ok, but nothing special. I enjoyed their kimchi stew, though.

I found the best bulgogi and grilled meats at Kiku Garden. Call in advance and reserve a grill table.

Surprisingly, the best Bulgogi I found in town so far for the value has been at the eatery (?) inside Seoul Oriental Food Market. Which happens to be an Asian grocery store. Prepared to be shocked if you haven't been there.
