Not having a phone with a pull down keyboard, even if I knew how to text, I'd have to learn how to do it pushing the numbers over and over the old fashion way, LOL

My most recent date was a problem for a while. I kept calling to let her know I was in town, but her mailbox was full. She finally texted me back asking "Are we still on for tonight?" Had she simply answered her phone to begin with she would have known.

I finally had to go into a store and grab a younger clerk who looked like he knew how to text on my phone, and have him text her back in a way that did not look suspicious. I also had him add "do not text back....call instead"

Later on she did call and all went well.

But, being an old fart I do not care for texting and NEVER will !

I text my provider buddies and its usually to say im going to call in a few minutes.

I do not like when new clients text. Especially when they text "Hey" or "hi". Not cool.

I like calling, its faster and to the point ....... takes two minutes or less, instead of 20 minutes of texting. Or maybe im just too lazy to read the abbreviated versions of everything, im about to turn 31, im slow, just call me. Im tired of passing the phone to a friend to figure out what someone just sent me. .......Im just saying.

Do you know how long it took me to figure what lol, lmao,smh, idk, meant.....im just saying! ........giggling.

Budman, I get you!! But think of who you're dealing with, too. Any provider under 30 will text rather than call. That's just the way the "kids" are today. Besides, most times one of the parties "can't talk now" and needs the privacy of a text. Like I said before, all depends on the urgency, privacy, timing of the communication.

Jenna, I understand what you are saying. The texting can get a little out of hand sometimes. I also understand the lack of desire for texting even though I don't mind it. What I don't understand is people's refusal to respect my hatred of the phone when I can respect their hatred of texting.

Speaking of texting...I've noticed more and more cities enforcing the whole "no texting whilst driving" law.....

I got pulled over a few weeks ago for "texting" in my car, the officer came to my window and told me I was breaking the law, and that I should not be texting and driving at the same time....My response to him..."I wasn't texting, I was writing an email!...See it's a blackberry!"....

That may be so, but in my experience, far too many clients want far more than a 5 minute phone conversation.
