It's sad that we have lost them all now. Do we still see their like among us? Time will tell.

I say YES.

Very young people have shown amazing examples of courage and dedication in the current wars. Having left the military not to long before 9-11, I have been amazed at how the military has transformed itself...and how many young people have 'stepped up' and done their duty without complaint, or hope of fame. I would have never predicted it.

I agree that we see their like in what they did in the military. What I was hoping to point out is that these men saw our country through that war, and forged ahead through the rest of the 40's 50's, 60's and 70's and into the 80's and 90's as our standard bearers and leaders. They took us to unbelievable new heights. Will today's generation of citizen soldiers be able to do that? Without insult to the current generation's military accomplishments, I stand by my comment that only time will tell. I think so, but I just don't know.

Yes they still exist just look at Sgt Sal Guinta medal of honor winner from afghanistan...amazing kid...humble modest and totally what you want your own kid to be like!!!!

True, only time will tell. BTW, for anyone who hasn't seen "Band of Brothers", I highly recommend it. Its an amazing narrative, mostly based in fact, of Easy Company, which Dirty Dog references. The DVD set has some extra features, including interviews with some members, 50 years later.
