Default Closed Threads

Is it just me that after being away from the board, upon return I find myself scanning for closed threads and reading those first? Afterall some drama had to lead to the closure

Every now and then I go into Houston's sandbox and look for the closed threads. They have the best drama down there.

Oh Ans. If you want to keep that southern gal image you can't let on that you don't know these things.

I just googled it. I know I'm southern but I don't have a clue about NASCAR. Profiling huh?

Not at all....just figured you had been a victim of your environment at one time or another. Rather like all those wonderful TX-isms I still think are annoying...but can't seem to evade now that I live here...

I heard the phrase "fixin' ta" slip out of my mouth the other day. I may as well go out and buy myself some spurs and a ten-gallon hat now; I've been infected, and thar ain't no cure.

20 or so years ago, I was spending a lot of time in West Texas with all kinds of "salt of the earth" type folks. One day, I got asked a question and I said..."I reckon so". I thought to myself..."Reckon?...Are you kidding me?...Rudy, when did you start reckoning?"

But you know?...it's OK. We could be Yankees.

Miss Ansley, I will be delighted to educate and inform on any and all forms of racing. Just tryin' to be of service, of course....

Who would ever want to be cured, darlin'? I'm actually working hard to get the "Dude" and "Bitchin'" out of the vocabulary to de-CA myself. Though I limit my sartorial infection to handmade boots......

I'm "a'fear'd" I may not be far behind! I have a tendency to pick up accents if I stay in one place for any length of time...and I've been living in Houston for about 4 years now. Recently, I've been working on a project in CT. The first week or so I was there, I was in line in the company's cafeteria. As I was chatting up the cashier, the guy behind me said it was great to hear a fellow Texan & asked me what part I was from!!

Rather disconcerting to a guy from Anacostia (southeast, DC...for the initiated)!

I find myself drifting into the local vernacular if I'm in someplace for more than a few months
