Is that some passive agressive dig at me? What did I ever do to you?

No it is a statement of fact. Sobieski (or as you would call it "Sobiesky") is a value brand marketed by the folks from Belvedere

I am fine with being wrong if I am. But what with the "the good news is no one takes what you write too seriously" remark?
Yeah I misspelled it, BFD.
I am trying to contribute to the conversation here. Are you never wrong?

It depends on if you like the heavier tannic reds or lighter bodied reds.
If you like cabs zins malbecs, etc.. check out Spanish Wines. Tempranillo is a beautiful grape, its flavors are similar to Cabernet Sauvingon, but the tannic acid level is similar to a Malbec. They also have some great wines using Mouvedre which they call Monestral. Jumilla, Rioja, and Yecla are great regions. Look for Crianzas they are the younger offerings and there are a lot under 20. The Reservas will have a vintage on them older than the drinkable California wines, but they have been held in barrel and bottle longer before release. You will find many Reservas for less than $30.

Nice to hear someone in the biz say this! I often feel like a voice in the wilderness trying to talk up Spanish reds. Rioja is practically all I drink these days. 2001 was an outstanding year! If you stumble across any, don't sweat the name on the label....grab it!!

If I'm going to get my own personal mod can I ask that she resemble more a "Diamond" than say John Bull?

i am surrounded by wine bars (colleyville-southlake) and always amazed by how many good wines are to be had at $20 or less. try the liberty school cabernet or the sketchbook cab for around $19. whites from the russian river/alexander valley nexus or ask the bartenders/servers at the big restaurants what they buy to drink after work. if all else fails go to target and look down or up but not at eye level or the endcaps. i love target store brands.
