Default I think I have an addiction to porn. A bad thing?

I don't know why, but porn really gets me off and in the mood, sometimes more then anything else, and today my husband was complaining that I have a porn addiction, or maybe its just an addiction to sex...I don't know. Is too much porn a bad thing? Does it really ruin relationships...that's what he was trying to tell me, but I am just not buying it...

It can..almost ruined mine last year... then we talked and came to the conclusion we understood that just because we like different things doesn't mean we wouldn't want each other. I am still a frequent visitor to efuckt.com lol

It's not possible to be "addicted" to porn; it is not a chemical substance. Addiction is a biochemical process, despite the way the word is popularly used. Now, it's certainly possible to be obsessed with porn, and any obsession - whether with porn, online gaming, sports, work, television, money or anything else - can put a severe strain on a relationship because the attention which should be going to one's spouse is instead going to the obsession.

The way I understand it is that sex triggers something in your body that is considered a chemical which in turn can make sex sn addiction. I'm not a doctor and I'm not at the moment in a position to look it up right now so I can't give references to back it up.

I believe sex can be am addiction.

Actually it is possible to be addicted or obsessed with anything. Whether food, love, sex, or even relationships, you can be overcome by doing something too much and letting it control you. If you are totally dependent on anything other than food, water, and air to live, you might have a co-dependency issue. I have a friend who is addicted to porn and yes it has ruined many of his relationships. He can literally have sex for 2 hours with a GF, and the first thing he does after he recovers is hit the net...it's just a bit much IMO.

You are not addicted to porn. Your husband is either jealous or a flaming homo . . . Either way, he clearly does not recognize the opportunities he is missing by you getting ramped up.

No, sex cannot be an addiction. Hypersexuality (the DSM IV classification for the disorders formerly known as nymphomania and satyriasis) is the disorder which most closely resembles the popular fallacy called "sex addiction", but hypersexuality is not an addiction; it exists whether the sufferer actually has sex or not, which you will admit makes it very different from an addiction.

The concept of "sex addiction" was invented by self-help book authors in the early '90s and embraced by incompetent pop-therapists; it is not and never has been a valid psychotherapeutic concept.

Being "addicted to porn" (if such is possible, I tend to agree with AngelOK) ... is only a problem if you are not buying the porn from ME.
