Default Poker/Tx Hold'em

Anyone play poker on here? Are there ever any games/tournaments?

I have home games with friends and go to Winstar about once/month, and Vegas usually twice/year. I used to play at some underground places, but heard they were robbed. Too scary..

Just wondering. Anyone?

Yep also play non cash games on Tuesdays and Saturday nights. Any cash games I play in are by personal invite only so robbery risk is pretty low. Dont think I would roll into an ug game with a bunch of random people. Got enough theives at the table already. lol

I would love a mixed game, as in mixed with providers and hobbyists!

i play as well but choose not to play the underground games. don't need another risky habit. play in the amateur leagues sometimes, not as much lately. won an entry into one of the WSOP satellites a couple of years ago. that was a blast. made it past the dinner break before busting out about an hour before the money. Phil Helmuth ended up winning (his 11th bracelet) and i was there when Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson presented it to him. got tired of the bad beats though and not playing as much.

I love to play but quit playing in the local rooms, just too afraid of getting cheated or robbed. I found the games weren't soft enough to be worth the risk anyway since a lot of the players in the rooms also play at WinStar or Choctaw and the rake is horrible. The worst thing was to wait for the game to start, get stuck and then the game would break and you had no chance to get your money back. I usually play at WinStar, an hour each way isn't too bad and there's always a game. I started out playing the free bar poker too but found the games at the casino are just as good and money is involved so I got hooked.

I go to L.A. or Vegas to play about once every two months. Mostly 5/10 NL.

That would be so much fun. However need people with the resources and space to host it. I think there should be a buy in say $40 or so. Then tournament style the winnings would go something like Doubles with providers, 2nd is a session, 3rd is a shorter session....Something like that obviously it would have to be figured out how many people would be playing to determine the prizes ie hours of sessions, with how many etc. Of course to encourage the providers to play the session winnings can only be spent on the providers that play in the tournament. So if John Doe wins say a session, that valued session money goes to Susie Q, whom John chose. Now for the providers if they win in the "money" they will actually get the cash value of that place winnings. Unless of course they want to do a session with another provider...hawt!

Just an example of the Prizes based on the common session prices. If 32players were in: 32*40=$1280
  • 1st: $500 value an hour with doubles
  • 2nd: $350 value; 90 min session
  • 3rd: $250 value; 60 min session
  • 4th: $180 value; 30 min session

Now if there are other costs for food, drinks, tables, cards, and/or location that is where it can get hairy. Technically by law you cannot have the "House" take a rake. So you cannot have the cost of entry to include payment for the "House" because thats a rake and illegal. However you can STRONGLY encourage donations to support it.

Just my 2 pesos.

By law you cannot charge either so what is the difference?

There was an aspd game that was played baclk in the day. I was in Lubbock at the time so I never tried to get an invite.

This has been done before & I too would be interested in participating again if there is enough interest.

A few years ago there was a group of 10 or so ASPD hobbyists who met monthly for a $2/$4 or $3/$6 no limit cash game of Texas Holdem. Drinks were BYOB. Game was held in a local hotel's small conference room that we rented out; room was paid by a rake taken from pots until covered.

We would have a different provider each month act as dealer if she wished, or sit in the lap of the last hand's winner, or crawl around under the table making people happy (if she wished!!!). Of course, it was always up to her & her comfort level how much or little happened and there was no expectation of services during the game. Girls' attire ranged from lingerie to full nude. Provider was generally paid one hour at her going rate & this too was settled from a rake. Games generally ran 7pm until 11pm or so. And if they hit it off, the night's big winner & the dealer were already at a hotel. Good times.

I eventually lost interest as I preferred younger "dealers" than was the taste of most of the group & the girls that they chose were not ones I wanted to see. Good players, good way to get screened, and good way to see what a girl is really like before going BCD.

Wow this game sounded like a great time! Something like this is exactly what I would like to participate in.
