This is what the media does to people. It provides the stereotypes.

I've seen a number of these series. I find them all disturbing on some level. Whether or not the series is unethical is a whole other discussion...

In terms of THIS scenario, the way the woman is dressed makes no difference to me. I would step in...I have stepped in...just last week as a matter of fact. A guy was getting "overly aggressive/physical" with his gal pal in my presence last Saturday night. The lady was attractive & dressed in a manner that screamed, "I'm sexy & I know it!"

I let the fella know - in no certain terms - that it wasn't acceptable behavior in public or in private. It wouldn't be tolerated...at least not in my presence.

Turned out the joke was on me...maybe. Once I intervened, they both told me in the moment that it was a foreplay kinda of thing for them. My only response was I hoped that they had some kinda safe word or something. We all laughed & that was the end of that.

Funny thing though....

The guy tried to give me shit about minding my own biz & attempted to physically intimidate me as well. He was younger, bigger & stronger than I. So much so, that I quickly decided if it got to that point my strategy was to get my shots in early & attempt to hang on until bar security or the cops broke it up!

Didn't matter to me. Right is right. I stood my ground. He only copped to the "joke" angle when I wouldn't back down. The lady came up to me privately later and - although she stuck to her story - thanked me for my concern for her welfare. I told her privately that I didn't buy their story & I was still concerned. Told her she didn't have to take that & there are resources at her disposal. She didn't say anything more & that was the end of that.

It's an f-ed up world, folks! To each, his/her own. If you play...play safe! If you're in doubt about what's going on, step in. Better to make a jackass of yourself than to see the strong prey on the weak.

That was disturbing...sometimes you don't know what to do or say.

But there is always the thought "If I help this lady, will she be back with the asshole in a couple of weeks?" Or..."Will she find another asshole?"

Uhh Wakeup, I don't think the pic helps?

Naw, the pic doesn't help, but it doesn't hurt either. People can Google "get me a sandwich" to see how big an Internet meme it is and then maybe they'll get the joke. If they don't, then they can think about which is worse, watching a video about simulated domestic violence or a picture making fun of simulated domestic violence. Either way, they can get over it...

To be honest, in both situations people told the manager to call the cops, there were no punches thrown, slaps, etc.... You cant assume she got the bruises from him, just sayin. If they wanted a real situation, they would have "cops" show up when people called. She did not try to leave and so on ......

I think what has me most disturbed is that even in this day in age, people still react to the woman dressed provocatively like this. The assumption is made she is asking for it, or somehow it's her fault.

Also, the whole race thing bothers me. The fact that it's assumed they are a "pimp, prostitute" couple, and no one does anything. I understand that people are afraid to get involved for fear of getting hurt themselves, but this is right in the middle of a public resturant for crying out loud. I feel very certain if those two old ladies started jumping down the guys throat he would back down very quickly, and in reality, he would leave the resturant. Guys that beat up women are generally afraid of confrontation with people who are confident, especially if they come in pairs in public places. Just my observation from past experience.
