child forums

Someone surely has mentioned this, but: Does Search have to have a "Search in Child Forums" box?

While the terminology may be less appropriate in this venue, forums are organized into a "Parent / Child" fashion. Thus "Dallas - Coed" is really "Coed" as a child of "Dallas" which in turn is a child of national, etc. The site software is designed for grander uses than what is used here and that relationship (parent/child) is by far the "best" approach.
